Jelikož se jedná již o čtvrtý díl, není třeba příliš představovat hlavní hrdiny. Z těch kladných stačí vyjmenovat půlelfa Leesila, dhampira Magieru, učenku Wynn a kouzelného „psíka“ Chapa. Protivníci se většinou v každé knize mění dle situace a zeměpisné polohy, přesto se do děje neustále skrytě i zcela přímočaře zapojuje tajemný Welstiel i zmatený, zamilovaný, ovšem jinak bezcitný Chane.
