A selection of English, Irish, Scottish, and Welsh traditional songs arranged for cello with piano accompaniment that provides encouragement and enjoyment to cellists familiar with the notes and fingering in first position, who are beginning to explore further positions. The melodies are short, varied in style and mood, fall easily on the ear, and can be learned quickly. The CD includes demos and play-alongs for each piece.

For ease of use and practicality Straightforward Second Edition is structured to provide one lesson per double-page spread (A/B/C/D), lasting around 90 minutes. All lessons are interlinked to promote better and more memorable learning, but the is the flexibility to pick out certain key sections to focus on certain language points.
