Frank Frazetta
Frank Frazetta has reigned as the undisputed king of fantasy art for well over 50 years, the value of his paintings now climbing as high as his fans’ admiration. Each year his works break the previous year’s auction records, with the cover for Lancer books 1967 Conan bringing $13.5 million in September 2025.Born to a Sicilian immigrant family in Brooklyn, 1928, Frazetta was a minor league athlete, petty criminal and serial seducer with movie star looks and phenomenal talent. Self-described as lazy and difficult, he often started a painting the night before it was due, completing it in mere hours, yet delivering a masterpiece—often still wet, but a masterpiece, nonetheless.
He started in comics at age 16, including the infamous EC Comics, moved on to film posters, then to Tarzan and Conan pulp covers. Along the way he produced magazine covers for National Lampoon, though at odds with the editors’ “hippy politics,” made the animated film Fire & Ice with director Ralph Bakshi, and learned to paint left-handed at age 68 after the first of many strokes paralyzed his right hand. As he explained in the 1970s, “I’m very physical minded.
In Brooklyn, I knew Conan, I knew guys just like him.” Using this first-hand knowledge of muscle and macho he redefined fantasy heroes as more massive, more menacing, more testosterone-fueled than anything seen before, and their female counterparts as thick-thighed, heavy-buttocked, and pixie-faced, yet still, with their soft bellies and hints of cellulite, believably real. All in all, Frazetta’s art is addictive as potato chips, and now available in a compact, attractive and affordable package.

Kdo jsem?
Jindra Viková (1946) patří dlouhá desetiletí ke špičkám naší i mezinárodní výtvarné scény, profiluje se jako keramička, sochařka, malířka, kurátorka i pedagožka. Její dílo sumarizuje hned několik monografií, perspektivou osobní výpovědi, vycházející z rozhovoru, poznámek a diářů, je však autorka v této publikaci představena poprvé. A má rozhodně co nabídnout. Její dílo bylo oceněno na významných přehlídkách se zaměřením na keramiku, např. na festivalech v italské Faenze (1981, 1984), na Trienále porcelánu ve švýcarském Nyonu, na Mezinárodním bienále keramického umění ve francouzském Vallauris (obě 1986), na International Art Festival v Bagdádu (1988) nebo na 1. světovém bienále keramiky v jihokorejském Icheonu (2001). Mezi lety 1991 až 2003 postupně vyučovala na University of Michigan, Ohio University a University of Connecticut. Díly je zastoupena v řade českých, evropských i mimoevropských muzeí a sbírek. Od roku 2002 vede dílny keramické tvorby v centru Jarmily Tyrnerové v Kohoutově. Se svým celoživotním partnerem, fotografem Pavlem Bankou, žije a pracuje v Benicích u Prahy.
Kateřina Vincourová
Monografii Kateřina Vincourová vydala Galerie Rudolfinum ve své ediční řadě u příležitosti velké sólo výstavy této české umělkyně, kterou jí pod názvem Kateřina Vincourová Skin Care uspořádala od 2. 10. 2025 do 11. 1. 2026.
Publikace obsahuje text a rozsáhlý rozhovor s umělkyní od kurátorky výstavy Denisy Kujelové a eseje Martiny Pachmanové (UMPRUM), Víta Havránka (AVU) a britské historičky umění Klary Kemp-Welch. Graficky monografii navrhla fotografka a grafička Markéta Othová, instalačními fotografiemi opatřil Martin Polák. Publikace zachycuje nejen samotnou výstavu, ale obsáhle se zabývá tvorbou Kateřiny Vincourové od 90. let 20. století do současnosti včetně bohatého obrazového materiálu.

Kawase Hasui: Modern Visions of Japan

Kawase Hasui (1883-1957) was one of the most important and prolific Japanese printmakers of the 20th century. He was one of the main creators of the shin hanga ('new prints') movement, whose artists depicted traditional subjects in a style influenced by Western painting. Shin hanga prints are harmoniously balanced designs, printed on the highest quality paper using the finest pigments, and in small editions. They are the fruit of a traditional yet successful collaboration between artist, publisher, block cutter and printer and have become increasingly popular among collectors of Japanese prints in the last decade.
Hasui began his artistic career studying Japanese painting. However, soon after seeing Shinsui's Eight Views of Lake Biwa series, Hasui turned to woodblock printing in 1919. Shozaburo Watanabe was the first to recognize his artistic genius, and Hasui Kawase soon became the most popular artist working for this prestigious publisher. He produced nearly a thousand woodcuts in a career that spanned almost forty years. Towards the end of his life, the Japanese government recognized him as a 'Living National Treasure' for his contribution to Japanese culture.

Bedřich Dlouhý (1932) je výjimečnou osobností českého umění 20. a 21. století. Hiroshige & Eisen. The Sixty-Nine Stations along the Kisokaido
The Kisokaido route through Japan was ordained in the early 1600s by the country’s then-ruler Tokugawa Ieyasu, who decreed that staging posts be installed along the length of the arduous passage between Edo (present-day Tokyo) and Kyoto. Inns, shops, and restaurants were established to provide sustenance and lodging to weary travelers. In 1835, renowned woodblock print artist Keisai Eisen was commissioned to create a series of works to chart the Kisokaido journey.
After producing 24 prints, Eisen was replaced by Utagawa Hiroshige, who completed the series of 70 prints in 1838. Both Eisen and Hiroshige were master print practitioners. In The Sixty-Nine Stations along the Kisokaido, we find the artists’ distinct styles as much as their shared expertise.
From the busy starting post of Nihonbashi to the castle town of Iwamurata, Eisen opts for a more muted palette but excels in figuration, particularly of glamorous women, and relishes snapshots of activity along the route, from shoeing a horse to winnowing rice. Hiroshige demonstrates his mastery of landscape with grandiose and evocative scenes, whether it’s the peaceful banks of the Ota River, the forbidding Wada Pass, or a moonlit ascent between Yawata and Mochizuki. Taken as a whole, The Sixty-Nine Stations collection represents not only a masterpiece of woodblock practice, including bold compositions and an experimental use of color, but also a charming tapestry of 19th-century Japan, long before the specter of industrialization.

Point Blank (Quick Studies) is the first major publication of Bob Dylan's artwork in over a decade, featuring nearly 100 never-before-seen drawings.
Bob Dylan is a master at telling stories, creating moods and provoking feelings – not only in music and the written word but also in visual art, which he has been creating since the 1960s. This publication of his art features nearly 100 black-and-white drawings that were completed between 2021 and 2022 and served as the basis for his latest exhibition – also titled Point Blank – at London's Halcyon Gallery in early 2025.
The works vary between portraits, still lifes and landscapes: roller-skating lovers, a suit of armour, a suspension bridge, a karaoke singer, a roll of Scotch tape, a Parisian canal, a man with a crooked smile.
