Eric Godtland has worked in the record industry for over 35 years, and collected records since turning 12 in 1977. As manager of the American band Third Eye Blind from 1995 he traveled the world, exploring record stores in every country, adding to his collection. Sexy covers were not a priority, but always welcome.
When Godtland switched to managing, and touring with, Village People in the 2010s he encountered such eccentric, comical and erotic covers in far-flung countries he concentrated on acquiring every sexy record cover ever produced. And he succeeded. The hundreds of covers in this book come from North and South America, Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia. Most are from small labels with limited production that were never seen outside their countries of origin. They range in age from Music Out of the Moon, the first electronic album, 1947, to punk band Dwarves Concept Album, 2023. Utagawa Hiroshige (1797–1858) was one of the last great artists in the ukiyo-e tradition. Literally meaning “pictures of the floating world,” ukiyo-e was a particular genre of art that flourished between the 17th and 19th centuries and came to characterize the Western world’s visual idea of Japan. In many ways images of hedonism, ukiyo-e scenes often represented the bright lights and attractions of Edo (modern-day Tokyo): beautiful women, actors and wrestlers, city life, and spectacular landscapes.
Though he captured a variety of subjects, Hiroshige was most famous for landscapes, with a final masterpiece series known as “One Hundred Famous Views of Edo” (1856–1858), which depicted various scenes of the city through the seasons, from bustling shopping streets to splendid cherry orchards.
This reprint is made from one of the finest complete original sets of woodblock prints belonging to the Ota Memorial Museum of Art in Tokyo. It pairs each of the 120 illustrations with a description, allowing readers to immerse themselves in these beautiful, vibrant vistas that became paradigms of Japonisme and inspired Impressionist, Post-Impressionist and Art Nouveau artists alike, from Vincent van Gogh to James McNeill Whistler.

Ékszerek ideje című időszaki kiállítás igazi kuriózum: látogatói az elmúlt 40 000 év leggyönyörűbb ékszereiben gyönyörködve ismerhetik meg viselőik történetét és fejthetik fel az ékszerekhez kapcsolódó jelentésrétegeket. Mindezeket pedig a kiállítás összekapcsolja a jelenkorral is, hiszen a bemutatott személyes tárgyak és történetek mozaikként alkotják történelmunket és identitásunkat. Az ékszereken keresztul megismerjuk a Kárpát-medence történelmét: az istállóskői barlangtól a hun, az avar és a középkori leleteken vagy III. Béla és Könyves Kálmán királyon át az 1848-49-es forradalom és szabadságharc után elterjedt gyászékszerekig. Végul a kortárs hazai ékszertervezés legfrissebb eredményeit felvonultatva eljutunk a fiatal magyar kreatíviparig.

Conquest of the Useless is the diary Herzog kept during the making of Fitzcarraldo, compiled from June 1979 to November 1981.
