Paolo Roversi
Developed and designed in close collaboration with Paolo Roversi himself, this definitive monograph surveys the last fifty years of the photographer's distinctive output.
Arriving in Paris from Ravenna in 1973, Paolo Roversi produced his first series of photographs in 1977, which were immediately picked up by the fashion press. From then on, he devoted himself to fashion photography, working for the greatest designers and for the most prestigious magazines, simultaneously occupying a position both at the heart of the fashion world and far from its ephemeral trends.
Ultimately in search of pure beauty, he formulates timeless and mysterious work, which is defined by his choice of studio and use of large format and Polaroid cameras. At the heart of his photography are his dedicated relationships with fashion designers and models, most famously with Yohji Yamamoto, as well as Romeo Gigli, Rei Kawakubo and Dior, and these fruitful collaborations have allowed Roversi to continuously challenge and renew his practice.
Conceived and designed in close collaboration with the photographer, and drawing on his archives, this book features many original prints, including some that have never been seen before. Spanning the entirety of Roversi's career, it explores his approach to his creative space and the way he treats it like a theatre stage, constantly reinventing it to suit each new collaboration.

Supported by an exhibition at the Baltimore Museum of Art curated by the author, this timely publication invites us to trace and make the connections between race, the climate crisis and colonialism.
Works by 100 contemporary artists are presented in three thematic sections: Reckoning, Reimagining and Reclaiming. Complex and intertwined concepts are explored: forced migration and slavery, the environmental consequences of colonialism, the occupation of Native lands, the urban plight of Black and Brown communities, and how cultural practices and knowledge systems of indigenous peoples can change our perspectives of the natural world.

Across several decades, self-taught photographer Amos Badertscher (1936-2023) made thousands of photographs of a liminal queer world: young male sex workers, drag performers, trans pioneers, and Baltimore, Maryland's inclusive, ribald nightlife. The encounters with these marginalized figures helped Badertscher understand his own queer identity and reveal a confident body of work that stakes out an important corner of queer art and aesthetics.
Made between the 1960s and early 2000s, the photographs featured here constitute an unparalleled chronicle of a culture of the era particular not only to Badertscher's hometown, but universally identifiable, one which began to fade with the movement of LGBTQ+ rights and liberation. It is dedicated to the dynamic relationship between human and nonhuman forces as conditions for the emergence of atmospheres. The cross-disciplinary investigation utilizes practices of notating, reflecting, showing, and sharing that are employed in different media and within different theoretical contexts such as phenomenology, enactivism, and new materialism. Hilma Af Klint - What Stands Behind the Flowers
A close look at a portfolio of forty-six botanical drawings by Hilma af Klint, and the abstract diagrams the artist developed to express the interconnectedness of the natural and spiritual realms.
"I have shown," wrote the Swedish artist Hilma af Klint, "that there is a connection between the plant world and the world of the soul." Her Nature Studies portfolio (1919-20), recently acquired by The Museum of Modern Art, New York, comprises 46 sheets of exquisitely rendered botanical drawings. Documenting each plant's particular qualities along with Latin names, Swedish common names, and dates of observation, af Klint follows the typical format of a botanical reference book, known as a Flora; however, hers is a Flora of the spirit, a mapping of the natural world in spiritual terms that would stand alongside any scientific resource. Carefully drawn and vividly colored plants, flowers, and lichen are juxtaposed with geometric forms: a blooming sunflower is echoed by three nested circles, a central dot, a solid red line, a ring of points; a white narcissus is set against a pinwheel of softened primary hues; a cluster of budding branches is accompanied by checkerboard boxes of dots and stroke.
Published in conjunction with the first exhibition of the rare portfolio, Hilma af Klint: What Stands Behind the Flowers presents the 46 botanical drawings alongside contextualizing works, as well as translations of her notes and previously unpublished texts from her own journals. An overview essay by curator Jodi Hauptman examines af Klint's strong connection to the natural and spiritual realms; texts by Ewa Lajer-Burcharth, Lena Struwe, and Laura Neufeld unpack the inspiration, imagery, and beliefs behind these drawings.

Text převzatý z edice Ästhetik des Buches německého nakladatelství Wallstein rozšiřuje škálu vydávaných publikací o podněty z německojazyčného kulturního prostoru. Na rozdíl od konvenčního líbivého designu, který sází na okamžitý optický požitek a spokojí se s pouhou názorností nebo euforizací obsahu, je pro Pammingera design tvůrčím, význam vytvářejícím aktem sdělení. Text sestává z deseti částí (Jízda kvadrigou / Zapomenutý prostor / Rozdělená dvoustrana / Pohyby obrazů / Časový tlak v obraze / Stavba o dvou hlasech / Autorská gesta / Výměna formulářů / Simultánní časopis / Neviditelné linie), ve kterých Pamminger poukazuje – na základě příkladů ze své praxe knižního designéra a kurátora – na otevřené možnosti grafického zpracování obsahu a vysvětluje své pojetí návrhu knihy od nápadu až po hotový výstup.

Knižní studie Směšné lásky a nelásky dramatika Viktora Dyka pohlíží na Dykovu dramatiku dnešním pohledem, který již není spoután meziválečným ani poválečným porozuměním.
