Melissa's Revenge
Melissa fled abroad to escape the trouble she''d caused, feeling very smug at how easily she had managed to disappear. In Bristol, she moved back into her previous flat and promptly made extensive renovation plans and to start a Property Business. She renewed her quest to have her revenge on the James family. This time she was determined to carry her plans through! She hadn''t forgotten Gabriel! He forced her to have that wretched child, she would make him pay dearly for that! Whilst Melissa was plotting and planning, the families in Little Trenchard were expanding their businesses, trying to ignore the ever-present threat of Melissa being close by, their only comfort that she was totally unaware of being watched and tracked. There was no escape; the net was tightening!
Past Lives, Forgotten Stories
In this richly woven tapestry of family, social, and local history, the lives of ordinary people unfold in extraordinary ways. The Jaques brothers were part of the infamous Long Company—a criminal gang that brought fear to the streets of Prescot in the mid-nineteenth century. A silk winder rose to fame as a blackfaced performer on the variety theatre circuit across northern England. In a bold leap of faith, a pawnbroker from Bolton emigrated to Canada with his family in the 1870s, going on to build a new life as a successful prairie farmer. And in a true rags-to-riches story, the illegitimate son of impoverished weavers in Victorian England rose through the ranks to manage a thriving cotton-spinning mill in Bolton. These compelling stories—drawn from the author’s own ancestors—reveal how individuals shaped and were shaped by the communities around them. From watchmakers and millers to miners and a possible link to landed gentry, this book explores the shifting landscapes of industrial Britain through deeply personal lenses.Meticulously researched and richly documented with archival material and contemporary press reports, it offers fresh insight into the lives that formed the backbone of a changing society.
Benji Waterhouse odemyká dveře britského psychiatrického oddělení a přináší zasvěcený pohled na nejtajemnější a zároveň nejkontroverznější obor medicíny, okořeněný zdravou dávkou černého humoru a špetkou optimismu.
Jednou z postav je on sám.

The King of the Tree Elves of Ludlow
The new King of the Elves has disappeared while searching for stolen gold and missing Leprechaun children. As a last resort, the elves turn to humans for help. Once again, Henry, along with Tom and Flora, must step into a parallel world to find the lost king and the missing children. Their epic journey is steeped in ancient folklore, ghostly encounters, and a battle against the evil Goblin Empire. The dangers they face are many: bloodthirsty werewolves, a deadly maze, and a ritual human sacrifice. A magical coronation at Ludlow Castle hangs in the balance. The odds of success are slim — but with the help of a brave beaver family, talking nettles, and a magical longbow, is there still hope?
Eco-Spirituality in the 21st Century
Explore an earth-based spirituality for today''s planet, rooted in nature awareness, community building, and creative expression. Eco-Spirituality offers a new vision for nature spirituality both by drawing upon ancient, ancestral connections and by visioning human-nature-spirit connections for a brighter future. The authors combine their collective skill sets in druidry, wilderness survival skills, permaculture, and more, to create this new framework for engaging in an eco-centric spiritual practice and lifestyle in the 21st century. This in-depth guide explores seven principles for reenvisioning humans’ relationship with the living earth: Reconnection, Respect, Rewilding, Regeneration, Resilience, Reenchantment, and Revisioning. Each principle is introduced through storytelling and then discovered through the Bard, Ovate, and Druid framework, detailing exercises the reader can engage in to experience the principle through creative, explorative, interpersonal, and spiritual actions. Readers will explore how to • build community around nature-based ceremony, cultural sharing, and experiences in the wild; • develop meaningful skill sets such as permaculture, survival, and ancestral skills; • tap into the primordial energy of the Earth and nature through ceremony and meditation; • use ceremony to rejuvenate and regenerate the natural world; • reconnect with nature in meaningful ways, including building ecological knowledge; • rewild their lives with wild movement and creativity, and connecting to nature’s rhythms; and • tend and regenerate their local ecosystems and communities. With Eco-Spirituality, discover a guide to a more meaningful, connected, and future-oriented nature spirituality.
Common Life
Spring 2020 and a fragile yet determined Mandarin duckling emerges into the world. From the nest to Middledown Pond, each step is fraught with danger, as rustles in the underbrush and ripples on the water pose potential threats. Above, a young squirrel tests her instincts, leaping confidently from branch to branch. Below, swans shepherd their cygnets, scanning the shoreline for danger. A wild-eyed dog races across the pond’s edge, scattering waterfowl like leaves in a storm. Summer arrives and the pandemic empties cities and floods the commons. Wildlife, accustomed to human absence, now faces new chaos. Birds of prey adjust their hunts as unfamiliar feet flatten the ground. The woods become both refuge and trap. Autumn calls for mating, and the deer rut begins with hooves pounding and antlers clashing. However, the ritual is disrupted by crowds and phones, causing a proud stag to falter and his harem to scatter, breaking the old order. Winter descends, and the squirrel slows, forming an alliance with crows to adapt to human presence. Foxes evolve rapidly, thriving in urban sprawl, rewriting territory and the rules of success. With the old ways broken, how will the common recover?
Tiger, Tom & Tinkle

LEAN ON NO ONE
LEAN ON NO ONE is a journey through the achievements and legacy of Elizabeth Garver Jordan, a woman who defined female ambition, creativity, empowerment and above all, lived life on her own terms. As the influence of public media via newspapers and magazines rapidly grew in the late 1800s and early 1900s, Jordan’s innovative approaches raised public awareness of the challenges of social and gender inequality. In her positions at Pulitzer’s New York World and Harper’s Bazar, she significantly boosted journalistic and literary opportunities for women and inspired a new generation through her own articles and serialised short stories. Jordan recognized how both work and literary collaborations could promote positive change as well as entertaining reading, especially concerning female empowerment. The themes and experimentation in her short stories, novels of intrigue, crime and romance, a play and film productions still resonate with readers today. Her work stands alongside those of her contemporaries with whom she had close personal and professional associations such as Frances Hodgson Burnett and Henry James. Jordan’s independence, determination and active collaboration in the media, political, literary and personal aspects of her life not only benefitted herself but also many others. Her underestimated contribution needs to be fully revealed and acknowledged.

Páni z Hradce a Slavatové z Chlumu a Košumberka
Kniha obsahuje:
14 interaktivních cvičení do výuky,

Managing Decline
Thirty-one men held the position of Foreign Secretary during the twentieth century, usually – though not invariably – being one of the two or three most significant figures in Cabinet. This book provides profiles for each of them, both as standalone essays and as part of the wider story of how the holders of the office have developed from being landed grandees to run-of-the-mill politicians; from largely independent practitioners of foreign policy to playing a supporting role behind their Prime Ministers; and how they oversaw Britain’s decline from the preeminent global superpower to a second-tier state with sharply circumscribed freedom of action. The book will examine the journey from Henry Charles Keith Petty-Fitzmaurice, 5th Marquess of Lansdowne, scion of an ancient family, through to Robin Cook, grandson of a miner.
I Don't Know What to Feel
A heartwarming and beautiful picture book that tenderly explores the rollercoaster of emotions we all experience. Through a series of gentle, everyday moments—a sunny day in the park, a sleepless night, a piano exam, a frustrating fall, and a heartfelt goodbye—this moving story follows a child and his grown-up as they navigate joy, fear, excitement, anger, and love through time. Perfect for young readers and their grown-ups to share, this book offers a compassionate guide to understanding big feelings. Each scene is infused with warmth, wisdom, and the quiet magic of unconditional support. As the child grows into a grown-up himself, the circle of care continues, reminding how empathy, patience, and connection can be passed from one generation to the next. With lyrical language and emotionally rich storytelling, I Don’t Know What to Feel will resonate with anyone who’s ever felt overwhelmed, unsure, or simply human. This is more than a bedtime book—it’s a lifelong companion for children, parents, and caregivers alike. A perfect gift for new parents, growing families, or anyone looking to celebrate the beauty of feeling deeply.
Rachel
This remarkable book is the story of the author''s mother, Rachel, a girl born in the Jewish Quarter of Damascus, who in 1927 wins a scholarship to study in Versailles to become a teacher with the Alliance Israelite Universelle. Posted to Baghdad, she meets Victor, a young man from a wealthy Iraqi Jewish family, fresh from study in Germany. The book follows their relationship, through the enormous and appalling upheavals of the twentieth century. The Holocaust is at first only a terrifying rumour to Syrian and Iraqi Jews, whose immediate problems result from the rise, following the collapse of the Ottoman rule, of a predominantly Muslim Arab nationalism whose sources in European fascism and Nazism make it a threat not only to Jews but to all the religious and ethnic minorities of the region, including the ancient Christian sects. The book covers the entire sequence of events, including the rise of Israel and the defeat of the Arab armies sent to suppress it, which led to the dispossession and expulsion, by the new nationalism, of virtually the entire Jewish community, in a vast act of what would now be called ethnic cleansing. In all of this Victor, extraordinarily, retains his nostalgia for an earlier, pre-Nazi Germany, and in the 1950s re-establishes himself in Hamburg.
