And when sneaky beetles creep into the patch, munching leaves and causing trouble, will the helpful herbs come to the rescue? With teamwork, understanding and a little bit of magic from Mari the Marigold, the plant friends discover that everyone has a role to play and that plants, like people, need friends to be able to grow! Peak Human
Golden ages are marked by periods of spectacular cultural flourishing, scientific exploration, technological achievement and economic growth: Ancient Greece gave us democracy and the rule of the law; out of Abbasid Baghdad came algebra and modern medicine, and the Dutch Republic furnished us with Europe's greatest artistic movements. As such, each has unique lessons to teach us about the world we live in today. But, all previous golden ages have proven finite, whether through external pressures or internal fracturing.
In Peak Human, acclaimed historian Johan Norberg examines seven of humanity's greatest civilizations - ancient Athens, the Roman Republic, Abbasid Baghdad, Song China, Renaissance Italy, the Dutch Republic and the Anglosphere - and asks: how do we ensure that our current golden age doesn't end?
Disonance a fata morgána
Kniha Disonance a fata morgána je závěrečnou částí dlouhodobého projektu mapujícího českou literaturu 20. století, stejně jako metodologické možnosti, jimiž v současnosti disponuje literární historie. Projekt byl zahájen v roce 2010 publikací Dějiny nové moderny. Česká literatura v letech 1905–1923 a pokračoval pak dalšími díly: Lomy vertikál. Česká literatura v letech 1924–1934 (2014), Věk horizontál. Česká literatura v letech 1935–1947 (2017) a Chór a disonance. Česká literatura 1947–1963 (2022).
Aktuální svazek se věnuje období od roku 1964 do roku 1971. Titul odkazuje k specifické charakteristice periody, která je typická kontradikcemi a paradoxy. Krátké období, v němž individualistické hlasy vítězily nad režimní „chóričností“ a otevíraly výhled do velkého světa svobody, bylo přerušeno drastickými událostmi okupace v srpnu 1968 a následnou „normalizací“.
Publikace „Judikatura práva rodiny – čtvrtý doplněk“ navazuje na předchozí publikace ediční řady a zahrnuje části nazvané Rodičovství, otcovství a mateřství, Participační práva dětí, Výživné, Procesní otázky, Společné jmění manželů, Úprava styku, Majetkové otázky práva rodiny, Správní a trestní otázky práva rodiny. Přesahuje tedy hranice samotného oboru rodinného práva a přináší široké spektrum odpovědí.

Milk Wood Memoir
Milk Wood Memoir, the fourth collection by Samantha Wynne-Rhydderch, opens with a handful of family recollections of Dylan Thomas, including Samantha’s grandfather’s presence in the poet’s house on the night he was shot at in March 1945. Thomas’s wartime sojourn in New Quay in West Wales from 1944 to 1945 was one of the most important creative periods in his life. Many scholars have linked the small coastal town to the imagined Llareggub (buggerall) in which Thomas set his most famous work, Under Milk Wood. New Quay’s present-day poet-resident, Samantha Wynne-Rhydderch, takes up the baton of the guide who never made it into the final version of Thomas’s play, showing us around her hometown through the eyes of its inhabitants past and present. In a series of eco-elegies, she explores how the wood of Under Milk Wood is turning into a floating forest due to coastal erosion. The paths once walked by Dylan Thomas between his bungalow and the pubs of New Quay are slowly collapsing into the sea, taking with them both trees and houses. As the guide takes us along the path she points out moments and monuments, all the while relating various ‘hanes’ (pronounced ha-ness, a Welsh word for stories, gossip) relating to local characters, a sort of family lore handed down the generations. Samantha Wynne-Rhydderch takes us by the hand and shows us the joys and sadnesses, excitements and fears behind the doors of the town she believes is key to Under Milk Wood. ‘Wynne-Rhydderch’s poetry masters a variety of styles, is intelligent, sincere, and deeply human. How lucky we are to have a guide like her’ – Matthew Dickman

Shrink Solves Murder
Her 3 o'clock just became a murder case...
When a body is found near Beachy Head, the police chalk it up to suicide - a tragic but not uncommon end in these parts.
But local psychotherapist Patricia Phillips isn't convinced.
The victim? Her three o'clock patient, Henry Clayton.
The cause of death is supposedly self-inflicted. Yet Pat can't shake the belief that someone wanted Henry Clayton dead. She spends her working life listening to histories and secrets, and she has a nose for when a story doesn't quite ring true.
Drawn from the therapy room to the crime scene, Pat begins to notice what others appear to overlook.
At her side is her best friend Prichard - a home-brewer of fearsome, stomach-turning concoctions, an excellent cook, and a man who seems to get along with everyone. Which makes him useful for infiltrating village life.
As Pat and Prichard look beneath the village's thin veneer of normality - one that barely conceals its appetites - they discover a killer hiding in plain sight.
Shrink Solves Murder is a warm, witty, and perceptive crime caper from the nation's favourite therapist.
