Názov audioknihy je ponáškou na slávny román českého spisovateľa, Eduarda Štorcha, Lovci mamutov (ilustrovaný Zdenkom Burianom) s prídavkom a tí druhí, pretože rozprávania Pavla Dvořáka sa nezastavilo pri lovcoch zo staršej doby kamennej, ale plynule pokračovalo až do staroveku, na samý okraj rímskej kapitoly slovenskej histórie.
Audioknihu inšpirovalo nadšenie autora nad objavovaním praveku, nad jedinečnými osudmi bádateľov a ich objavov, ale aj nad vlastným poznávaním najstaršej histórie.
