Po příjezdu do Londýna Anthony záhy zjišťuje, že jeho úkol nebude vůbec snadný. O paměti bývalého předsedy vlády balkánského Herzoslovenska projevují enormní zájem nejroztodivnější jednotlivci i organizace. Anthony se v Anglii sotva rozkouká a už musí odklízet mrtvolu, již ve svém domě našla půvabná Virginia Revelová… Všechna dávná i současná tajemství, s nimiž se doslova trhá pytel, se nejasně vztahují k venkovskému sídlu Chimneys a právě tam se všichni svérázní aktéři příběhu sejdou. Ale záhady dál odolávají detektivům-profesionálům i sympatickému, ale velmi podezřelému Anthonymu, jenž se chtě nechtě stal detektivem-amatérem.
