Dream Theater - When Dream And Day Unite LP
Dream Theater je americká progresívna metalová skupina založená v roku 1985 v Bostone, Massachusetts. Kapelu tvoria John Petrucci (gitara), John Myung (basgitara), Mike Portnoy (bicie), James LaBrie (spev) a Jordan Rudess (klávesy). Dream Theater založili pod názvom Majesty Petrucci, Myung a Portnoy – všetci rodáci z Long Islandu v New Yorku – zatiaľ čo navštevovali Berklee College of Music. Odišli, aby sa sústredili na kapelu. Petrucci a Myung boli jediní dvaja stáli členovia. Portnoy zostal až do roku 2010, keď ho po rozhodnutí odísť, aby sa venoval iným hudobným projektom, nahradil Mike Mangini, a potom sa v októbri 2023 opäť pripojil k Dream Theater. Po krátkom pôsobení u Chrisa Collinsa nasledoval Charlie Dominici (ktorý bol prepustený z Dream Theater krátko po vydaní ich debutového albumu z roku 1989 When Dream and Day Unite) bol LaBrie v roku 1991 najatý ako spevák skupiny. Prvý klávesák Dream Theater Kevin Moore opustil skupinu po troch albumoch a v roku 1995 ho nahradil Derek Sherinian. obdobie turné. Skupina nahrala jeden album (a EP) so Sherinianom, ktorého v roku 1999 nahradil súčasný klávesák Jordan Rudess.
Dream Theater vydali svoj debutový štúdiový album „When Dream and Day Unite“ v roku 1989. S Charliem Dominicim vokálom urobili prvé kroky k tomu, aby sa stali jednou z najznámejších progresívnych metalových kapiel na svete. Už na tomto debutovom albume je jasne počuť, čo sa neskôr stalo jasným hudobným podpisom kapely. S prenikavými riffmi a jazzovými časťami demonštrujú vplyvy prog rocku 70. a 80. rokov. Míľnik vo vývoji progresívneho metalu, je to album plný atmosférických klávesových zvukov, epických vokálov a silných riffov. Celkovo vzaté, "When Dream and Day Unite" bol skvelým štartom smerom k masívnej popularite, ktorú skupina získala o niekoľko rokov neskôr.Po vydaní ich prvého najpredávanejšieho albumu „Images & Words“ (1992) bol konečne dosiahnutý prielom a dosiahol obrovské publikum. Do dnešného dňa Dream Theater predali viac ako 13 miliónov nahrávok po celom svete.

Dream Theater je americká progresívna metalová skupina založená v roku 1985 v Bostone, Massachusetts. Kapelu tvoria John Petrucci (gitara), John Myung (basgitara), Mike Portnoy (bicie), James LaBrie (spev) a Jordan Rudess (klávesy). Dream Theater založili pod názvom Majesty Petrucci, Myung a Portnoy – všetci rodáci z Long Islandu v New Yorku – zatiaľ čo navštevovali Berklee College of Music. Odišli, aby sa sústredili na kapelu. Petrucci a Myung boli jediní dvaja stáli členovia. Portnoy zostal až do roku 2010, keď ho po rozhodnutí odísť, aby sa venoval iným hudobným projektom, nahradil Mike Mangini, a potom sa v októbri 2023 opäť pripojil k Dream Theater. Po krátkom pôsobení u Chrisa Collinsa nasledoval Charlie Dominici (ktorý bol prepustený z Dream Theater krátko po vydaní ich debutového albumu z roku 1989 When Dream and Day Unite) bol LaBrie v roku 1991 najatý ako spevák skupiny. Prvý klávesák Dream Theater Kevin Moore opustil skupinu po troch albumoch a v roku 1995 ho nahradil Derek Sherinian. obdobie turné. Skupina nahrala jeden album (a EP) so Sherinianom, ktorého v roku 1999 nahradil súčasný klávesák Jordan Rudess.
Zostáva pár dní, kým Dream Theater odštartujú svoje 40. výročie v Londýne, a preto skupina stanovila dátum vydania "Parasomnie". Album bude prvý s bubeníkom Mikeom Portnoyom, zakladajúcim členom, od albumov Black Clouds a Silver Linings z roku 2009. Názov „parasomnia“ je záchytná fráza pre nočné vyrušovanie od námesačnosti až po nočné hrôzy. Prvá ochutnávka albumu je „Night Terror“, typicky akrobatická 10-minútová prog-metalová odysea do fantastickej strašidelnej nočnej scenérie. Skupina nakrútila videoklip k piesni v niečom, čo vyzerá ako strašidelný kaštieľ. Frontman James LaBrie stúpa po prašných schodoch, keď spieva refrén, kým ho kolegovia z kapely nenasmerujú späť do labyrintového gitarového riffu.
