Moby - Always Centered At Night (Yellow) 2LP
Richard Melville Hall (Moby) sa narodil v New Yorku a vyrastal v Connecticute, kde začal robiť hudbu vo veku 9 rokov, hral na klasickej gitare a študoval hudobnú teóriu. V 14 rokoch začal hrať v hardcore punkovej kapele 'The Vatican Commandoes'. Neskôr sa pripojil k post-punkovej kapele 'Awol' počas štúdia filozofie na University of Connecticut. Svoju DJingovú činnosť začal už počas vysokoškolských rokov, potom pokračoval v osemdesiatych rokoch v New Yorku na house a hip-hopovej scéne, kde pôsobil v kluboch ako MARS, Red Zone, mk a The Palladium. Svoj prvý singel Go vydal v roku 1991 (zaradený Rolling Stones ako jednu z najlepších nahrávok všetkých čias) a odvtedy produkuje albumy. Z jeho nahrávok sa celosvetovo predalo viac ako 20 000 000 kópií, no produkoval a remixoval aj nahrávky iných umelcov, akými sú David Bowie, Metallica, The Beastie Boys, Public Enemy.
Na svojom novom albume Always Centered At Night Moby opäť vykúzlil do reality zbierku neuveriteľne krásnych, nežných, no napriek tomu vyzývavých piesní, ktoré vznikli v spolupráci s jedinečne talentovanými, oduševnene vedomými spevákmi z iného sveta. Všetky piesne sú milostné listy neobmedzenej a očarujúcej hudobnej scéne z konca 70. rokov, zo začiatku 80. rokov v New Yorku, ktoré formovali Mobyho ako hudobníka. Vybraní speváci dostali rovnaké zadanie: „Prosím, nepíšte nič komerčné. Nech je to divné. Nech je to osobné. Nemusí to dávať zmysel."

There were many reasons Moby was never going to make it as a DJ and musician in the New York club scene of the late 1980s and early 90s. This was the New York of Palladium, of Mars, Limelight, and Twilo, an era when dance music was still a largely underground phenomenon, popular chiefly among working-class African Americans and Latinos. And then there was Moby - not just a poor, skinny white kid from deepest Connecticut, but a devout Christian, a vegan, and a teetotaler, in a scene that was known for its unchecked drug-fueled hedonism. He would learn what it was to be spat on, literally and figuratively. And to live on almost nothing. But it was perhaps the last good time for an artist to live on nothing in New York City...And so by the end of the decade, Moby contemplated the end of things, in his career and elsewhere in his life, and he put that emotion into what he assumed would be his swan song, his good-bye to all that, the album that would be in fact the beginning of an astonishing new phase in his life, the multimillion-selling Play. Porcelain is about making it, losing it, loving it, and hating it. It's about finding your people, and your place, thinking you've lost them both, and then, finally, somehow, creating a masterpiece.
