Oasis bola anglická rocková skupina založená v Manchestri v roku 1991. Pôvodne známa ako The Rain, skupinu spočiatku tvorili Liam Gallagher (spev, tamburína), Paul Arthurs (gitara), Paul McGuigan (basgitara) a Tony McCarroll (bicie), pričom Liamov starší brat Noel Gallagher (sólová gitara, spev) sa k nim pridal ako piaty člen pár mesiacov po ich vzniku. Noel sa stal de facto lídrom skupiny a prevzal skladateľské povinnosti na prvých štyroch albumoch kapely. Sú charakterizovaní ako jedna z definujúcich a celosvetovo najúspešnejších skupín žánru Britpop. "Definitely Maybe" je debutový štúdiový album, ktorý vydalo vydavateľstvo Creation Records 29. augusta 1994. Zožal široké uznanie kritikov a pomohlo podnietiť revitalizáciu britskej pop/rockovej hudby v 90. rokoch. Kritici ho prijali za jeho optimistické témy a odmietanie negatívneho pohľadu na väčšinu vtedajšej grungeovej hudby a je považovaný za základný kameň žánru Britpop, odvtedy sa objavil v zoznamoch mnohých publikácií s najlepšími albumami zo všetkých. čas. V roku 2006 NME uskutočnilo čitateľskú anketu, v ktorej bol určite Maybe zvolený za najlepší album všetkých čias. V roku 2015 Spin zaradil album do svojho zoznamu „300 najlepších albumov rokov 1985–2014“. Rolling Stone zaradil album na 217. miesto v zozname 500 najlepších albumov všetkých čias za rok 2020.
