And all the time Mma Ramotswe has weighty questions of a philosophical nature to consider, such as whether it is right to find happiness in small things, such as a new pair of blue shoes, a slice of cake, or a red sunset over the Kalahari.

Když se Precious nakonec vrhne po stopách zmizelého dítěte, riskuje vlastní pověst a možná i život. Alexander McCall Smith okouzlil čtenáře netradiční hlavní hrdinkou i jejím chytrým humorem. Je vynikajícím vypravěčem a jeho text čtenáře spolehlivě přenese do prostředí odlišné africké kultury. Není bez zajímavosti, že režisér známých filmů Anglický pacient a Talentovaný pan Ripley Anthony Minghella natočil podle této literární předlohy detektivní seriál.

Angus je keltský boh snov, syn bojachtivého Dagdu a ducha vody Boanna. Angus je mladý a krásny a roznáša sny lásky každému, koho stretáva. Je priateľom vtákov a ochrancom zvierat. Podobne ako iné keltské mýty, aj tento príbeh je o premene. Angus sa rád zapožičiava do paralelných príbehov, ktoré nám autor rozpráva: ľahký sugestívny príbeh o mužovi, ktorý miloval prasce, o čerstvej manželke, ktorá si uvedomí, že sa vydala za muža plného tajov, o hnedookom manželskom páre, ktorým sa narodil modrooký syn.
