Veľa sa experimentuje a mení nástroje, výsledkom čoho je inšpiratívny hudobný jazyk. Push The Sky Away je fantastický album Nicka Cavea, ktorý urobí radosť nejednému fanúšikovi. Pochází z Austrálie, kde zformoval kapelu Boys Next Door, jež byla součástí místní post-punkové scény. V roce 1980 se skupina přejmenovala na Birthday Party a přesídlila do Evropy. Birthday Party v čele s Nickem Cavem si brzy získali značný respekt a velmi dobrou reputaci, jejich koncerty byly intenzivní a plné emocí. V roce 1983 se kapela rozpadla a Cave založil nové seskupení Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, v němž se sešel třeba s multiinstrumentalistou Mickem Harveym nebo kytaristou Blixou Bargeldem. Skupina je dnes považována za jednu z nejoriginálnějších post-punkových a alternativně rockových kapel, také u nás je její popularita značná.
