V listopadu 1968 byly do všemožných hudebních obchodů světa vyslány miliony kopií eponymního devátého dvojalba jedné z nejlegendárnějších kapel hudební historie - Beatles. Albu, které po generace nepřestává lidstvo inspirovat, se později začalo přezdívat The White Album. Reedice desky vyjde 9. listopadu a bude obsahovat 30 Gilesem Martinem (syn George Martina) a Samem Okellem nově vysoce kvalitně zmixovaných písní (The White Album), 27 dřívějších akustických demo nahrávek (Esher Demos) a 50 z většiny dosud nevydaných nahrávek pocházejících ze studiových sessions (Sessions). The White Album bude k dostání v několika verzích. Super deluxe verze s tradičním unikátním číslem bude obsahovat dva disky, na kterých je nahrané album, jeden disk s Esher Demos, tři disky Sessions, čtyři Blu-ray verze alba a je doplněna knihou plnou fotografií, plakátů, rukopisů, poznámek a textů. Deluxe varianta bude obsahovat výše zmíněné disky, 4LP limitovaný box set - klasické album a audio kolekci, která mj. obsahuje Esher Demos, 24stránkový booklet, plakáty a portréty. Standard verze potom obsahuje klasické původní 2LP. Většina skladeb byla složena v meditačním centru Mahariši Maheš Jógiho poblíž indického Rišikeše, kam členové skupiny se svými manželkami odcestovali v únoru 1968, aby se zrekreovali a věnovali se meditacím. Na rozdíl od předchozího alba, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, nebylo The White Album zamýšleno jako konceptuální album. Písně nespojuje žádné téma, střídá se i mnoho stylů hudby (blues, hard-rock, folk, ska a další). Je možné, že právě z důvodu takového množství nesourodých „škatulek” či „koutků” chtěli Beatles toto album původně nazvat Domeček pro panenky. Obal desky navrhl renomovaný autor pop artu Richard Hamilton a je v kontrastu s obalem „Seržanta Peppera” stejně, jako je tomu v případě hudebního obsahu těchto dvou alb. Celá obálka má bílou barvu. Na obálce je pouze plasticky či v odstínech šedi vytlačen název alba. Album se v Británii i Americe stalo okamžitým bestsellerem, který se umístil na prvních příčkách, kde se držel osm až devět týdnů. Deska se stala 19x platinovou a v roce 2000 byla uvedena do Grammy Hall of Fame jako „deska s neuvadající kvalitou a historickým významem”. „Jedná se o nejlepší album, které kdy Beatles vydali a jenom Beatles mohou udělat ještě lepší,” komentoval tehdy desku spoluzakladatel časopisu Rolling Stone Jann Wenner. Jedna z nejdůležitějších kapel hudební historie Beatles 27. září vydává reedici slavného alba Abbey Road. Ikonická fotografie kapely přecházející přes přechod pro chodce byla totiž vyfocena fotografem Ianem Macmillanem 27. září přesně před 50 lety. Macmillan balancující na žebříku kousek od přechodu v ulici Abbey Road, kde se nachází dnes již stejnojmenná slavná nahrávací studia, zachytil pouze šest fotografií, přičemž na cover alba byla vybrána pátá z nich. Abbey Road nebylo sice posledním albem kapely, neboť o rok později v roce 1970 vyšla ještě deska Let It Be, ale jedná se o poslední album, na kterém ještě spolupracovali všichni členové kapely - John Lennon, Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney a George Harrison - společně. Abbey Road, které debutovalo na první příčce britských i amerických žebříčků, kde se drželo 17 týdnů, se vylisovaly miliony kusů, v roce 1995 si deska vysloužila uvedení do Grammy Hall of Fame za nahrávku neupadající kvality a historického významu a album dodnes zůstává nejprodávanější studiovou deskou kapely. Snímek z obalu alba se stal jednou z nejslavnějších fotografií a ikonický přechod je každoročně hojně navštěvovaným místem tisíců fanoušků kapely. Studia byla z původních EMI Recording Studios přejmenována na Abbey Road Studios a stala se nejslavnějšími nahrávacími studii na světě. Všech sedmnáct skladeb bylo nově zmixováno producentem Gilesem Martinem - synem legendárního producenta George Martina, který s Beatles od samých začátků pracoval. „Kouzlo vychází z rukou, které hrají na nástroje, z prolínání hlasů Beatles, z krásy aranží,” komentuje reedici Martin. „Naším úkolem bylo jenom ujistit se, že všechno bude znít tak čerstvě a chytí vás tak intenzivně, jako v den, kdy byly skladby poprvé nahrány.” Základní sada písní je doplněna o 23 studiových a demo nahrávek, z nichž většina nebyla dříve vydána. Na desce se nachází hity, jako je například Come Together, Here Comes The Sun, Oh! Darling nebo Octopus's Garden. Deluxe edice alba obsahují knihu s komentářem Paula McCartneyho, historika Beatles Kevina Howletta, poznámky ke každé ze skladeb, esej od hudebního publicisty Davida Hepwortha, která reflektuje vliv alba, dříve nevydané fotografie, které z většiny zachytila Linda McCartney, ručně psané texty, korespondenci Beatles, tehdejší reklamní letáky a mnoho dalšího. Beatles vydávají The Singles Collection, která je limitovanou edicí, jež obsahuje 23 vinylových desek, přičemž na každé straně se nachází jeden ze singlů kapely. Kolekce začíná debutovým singlem Love Me Do a končí dvěma singly Free As Bird a Real Love, které kapela vydala v 90. letech. Obrázkové obaly singlů však nebyly v době Beatles v Británii běžné, kolekce proto obsahuje obaly singlů posbírané z celkem 22 zemí. Mezi ně patří například Argentina, Norsko, Izrael nebo Francie. The book opens in January 1969, the beginning of The Beatles' last year as a band. The Beatles (The White Album) is at number one in the charts and the foursome gather in London for a new project. Over 21 days, first at Twickenham Film Studios and then at their own brand-new Apple Studios, with cameras and tape recorders documenting every day's work and conversations, the band rehearse a huge number of songs, culminating in their final concert, which famously takes place on the rooftop of their own office building, bringing central London to a halt. The Beatles: Get Back tells the story of those sessions through transcripts of the band's candid conversations.
