Třetí pokračování deníkových zápisků si náš známý adolescent smutné postavy pořizoval v období od konce roku 1984 do začátku roku 1991, kdy již překonal své hořké zrání, ale do těch pravých let v divočině velkého světa mu ještě něco scházelo. Knížka má dvě části – první je samotná Zpověď, druhá nese název Adrian Mole a malí obojživelníci – a na jejích stránkách se dočteme např. o tom, jak se Pandora začíná Adrianovi neodvratně vzdalovat, jak maturita a vyhlídky na další studium končí katastrofou, jak se z třídního násilníka Barryho vyklubal nejen opovrženíhodný vězeň, ale i (jaká nespravedlnost!) oslavovaný „skinheadský básník“. Podíváme se s hrdinou do Moskvy, prožijeme s ním trapná úskalí prvního zaměstnání v městské knihovně i neslavný pobyt v Oxfordu, kde ho bohužel nečeká studium na univerzitě, ale soužití s Pandořiným excentrickým manželem.

Konečně jsou tady ona toužebně očekávaná léta v divočině světa, ale žádná sláva to není. Třiadvacetiletý Adrian musí opět čelit nepřebernému množství osobních problémů a trápení. Svět kolem něj je jako vyšinutý: Pandora se provdala za bisexuála, rozvedení rodiče si (zřejmě v nějakém pominutí smyslů) vybrali naprosto nevhodné životní partnery, a co opravdu nelze skousnout, je, že z úhlavního nepřítele Barryho se stal slavný spisovatel, zatímco Adrianovu prvnímu románu se nedaří a nedaří.
