Down Under- Australia & New Zeland
In this new series we're presenting contemporary graphic design from different parts of the world. Even though during the last decades globalization seems to have resulted in the different cultures and societies moving closer together, and although communication and cultural exchange has increased, many regional designs still retain distinctive characteristics that reflect their origin.
The fourth and latest volume in the series is dedicated to Australia and New Zealand. Thanks to the region's proximity to eastern Asia, the predominantly western imagery which most of these designs are firmly rooted in, is enriched by Asian and exotic elements. This combination leads to some rather unexpected and unorthodox results. Thus, "Down Under" is a collection of designs which appear both familiar and strange at the same time.
As "Down Under" once again demonstrates, the series "Worldwide graphic Design" is an inspiring visual journey around the world!

Zo škrupiny 2 - Cesta do Austrálie
„Najlepšie by mu bolo v Austrálii. Je to jeho domov,“ uvažovala Anastázia.
„Super, kúpime obálku, nalepíme známku a pošleme ho do Austrálie,“ zažartoval Jožko. V žiadnom prípade sa nechcel s krokodílom rozlúčiť. A ani s tým nepočítal.
Krokodíl, samozrejme, zožral všetko zo svojho červeného vedra a teraz spokojne spal. Strýko sa k nemu pomaly priblížil a nádobu odtiahol. Bol opatrný. Akokoľvek skrotené zviera je stále zviera, zvlášť krokodíl. Rozlúčil sa s deťmi a Agnes so slovami: „Čas ukáže, čo treba robiť.“

Lacná kniha Commonwealth of Thieves: The Story of the Founding of Australia (-70%)
In late-18th-century Britain, people were hanged for petty offences, yet crime was rife. The gaols were bursting and over-flow prisoners were kept in notorious 'hulks': rotting old ships moored offshore. Out of this situation was born the 'solution' - 'The Sydney Experiment': criminals perceived to 'damage' British society would be transported to Australia. Thus, Sydney was founded as 'an open-air prison' with 'walls 14,000 miles thick'. There were orgies, diseases, court marshalls, hangings, escapes and hunger...Tom Keneally tells the fascinating story of how Governor Arthur Phillip, despotic ruler of New South Wales, imposed order between the convicts, sailors and native aboriginal tribespeople...and how the 'open-air prison' eventually developed into one of the most vibrant cities in the world.
