Nature Is A Human Right
Having access to natural, green spaces is vital to our physical and mental wellbeing. But, as urban development spreads, grey has become the new green.
Already, concrete outweighs every tree, bush and shrub on Earth. Nature deprivation is a fast-growing epidemic, harming the health and happiness of hundreds of millions of people worldwide - especially vulnerable and marginalized groups. To combat this, Nature is a Human Right, founded by Ellen Miles in 2020, is working to make access to green space a recognized right for all, not a privilege.
This book has taken root from the mission and vision of the campaign, bringing together a collection of engaging essays, interviews and exercises, curated by Ellen, from a selection of its expert ambassadors and supporters (including authors, artists, scientists, human rights experts, television presenters, TED speakers, and climate activists). Through each contributor, we discover a new perspective on why contact with nature should be a protected human right, journeying through personal narratives on mental health, disability, racism, environmental inequality, creativity, innovation and activism.
This is a captivating and enlightening collection of original writing and ideas that highlights the importance of nature, the threats of nature deprivation, and the work that needs to be done to make our global future happier, healthier and more equal.

One Midsummer's Day
It takes a whole universe to make one small black bird.
The bestselling author of Crow Country and writer of The Guardian's Counrtry Diary tells the story of all life on Earth through a single day spent in the company of swifts.
Swifts are among the most extraordinary of all birds. Their migrations span continents and their twelve-week stopover, when they pause to breed in European rooftops, is the very definition of summer. They may nest in our homes but much about their lives passes over our heads. No birds are more wreathed in mystery. Captivated, Mark Cocker sets out to capture their essence.
Over the course of one day in midsummer he devotes himself to his beloved black birds as they spiral overhead. Yet this is also a book about so much more. Swifts are a prism through which Cocker explores the profound interconnections of the whole biosphere.
From the deep-sea thermal vents where life was born to the 15 million degrees at the core of our Sun, he shows that life is a singular and glorious continuum. These birds without borders are a perfect symbol to express the unity of the living planet. But they also illuminate how no creature, least of all ourselves, can be said to be alive in isolation. We are all inextricably connected.
Drawing deeply on science, history, literature and a lifetime of close observation, One Midsummer's Day is a dazzling and wide-ranging celebration of all life on Earth by one of our greatest nature writers.

Biostatistika
Jejich řešení, postup zpracování a podobu výsledků autoři ukazují s použitím dvou statistických programů: „Statistica“ a „R“, běžně využívaných v České republice. K praktickým příkladům také doplňují, jak mohou být statistické výsledky prezentovány v anglicky psaných odborných publikacích, i jak v těchto publikacích použité statistické metody popsat.
