Codependent - Now What?
There are perhaps innumerable books on the market today explaining how a person might become codependent. The problem is, knowing why you may be codependent does nothing to help you recover from being a codependent, which is why I wrote this book. About fifteen years ago, when my life shattered around me I was dumbfounded after being diagnosed with clinical depression and told that my diagnosis was the result of being in a codependent marriage. I was just as shocked to learn that because I was raised by unrecovered adult children of alcoholics, I had essentially been programmed to think in a codependent way. With nowhere else to turn, I decided to learn all I could about adult children of alcoholics, as well as adult children of narcissistic parents in an attempt to help me understand the way my mind processed information and why. What I discovered changed my life, and in fact gave birth to the life I was meant to live. Today I am a passionate self help author and Breakthrough Life Coach who is an expert in the field of codependent recovery. Over the last fifteen years I have collected information based on my professional as well as personal experiences that have allowed me to understand what it takes to heal the codependent mind, and to liberate ones self from the web codependency truly is. 'Codependent--Now What?, Its Not Your Its Your Programming' is nothing short of a codependency manifesto. In it you will not only learn deep insights about the true causes of the codependent mindset, but you will also be given the tools you need to heal your childhood programming once and for all. When I was new to codependent recovery, I kept asking myself, "Why can't I find a book that explains how I can heal from this?" As a Life Coach I have heard countless clients ask me for tools to help them heal. This book is not only what I was asking for so many years ago, but it is what most people are in need of once they too discover that the root of so many of their ongoing troubli

Art of the Start 2.0
Fully revised and expanded for the first time in a decade, The Art of the Start 2.0 is Guy Kawasaki's classic bestselling guide to launching and making your new product, service or idea a success. This new edition has been expanded to reflect the seismic changes in business over the last decade, in which once-invulnerable market leaders have struggled and many of the basics of getting established have become easier, cheaper and more democratic. Today, business plans are no longer necessary. Social media has replaced PR and advertising as the key method of promotion. Crowdfunding is now a viable alternative to investors. Cloud computing makes basic infrastructure affordable for almost any new venture. The Art of the Start 2.0 will show you how to effectively deploy all these new tools. And it will help you master the fundamental challenges that have not changed: building a strong team, creating an awesome product or service, and facing down your competition. Whether you're an aspiring entrepreneur, own a business, or want to get more entrepreneurial within any organisation, this book will help you make your crazy ideas stick. It's an adventure that's more art than science - the art of the start. "The Art of the Start 2.0 is the ultimate entrepreneurship handbook. Kawasaki's generous wisdom, tips, and humour reflect his successes and failures. We can all benefit from his insights." (Arianna Huffington, president and editor in chief, Huffington Post). "A successful entrepreneur requires three things: a garage, an idea, and this book - Guy's irrepressible guide to the raw essentials of life in a young company." (Michael Moritz, Sequoia Capita). Guy Kawasaki is the chief evangelist of Canva (an online design service) and an executive fellow of the Haas School of Business at U.C. Berkeley. Previously, he was the chief evangelist of Apple and special adviser to the CEO of the Motorola business unit of Google. His many acclaimed books include The Art of Social Media and Enchantment.

Fascinate
Why is Jagermeister the most popular brand nobody likes? Why do women pay more to be fascinating than they spend on food and clothes? What raises the price of gummy worms by 1000%? And then there's the most important question of all: How can your brand become impossible to resist? Master marketer Sally Hogshead reveals the surprising answers, providing readers with a framework to fascinating anyone. The word "fascinate" comes from the Latin word fascinare, meaning "to bewitch or hold captive so others are powerless to resist." Fascination is the most powerful force of attraction, drawing customers into a state of intense focus. This extensively revised and updated edition includes Hogshead's latest research on the science of fascination. Combining original case studies with award-winning copywriting experience, she gives you the exact words you need to capture the attention of a distracted world. This new edition includes a free assessment tool called the Brand Fascination Profile, which will help you earn attention in any environment.
Dive into the science of fascination and learn how to: *Increase prices with ideas from poker to Play-Doh*Build revenue by learning about the $14 million license plate*Get better leads through hypnosis by Sigmund Freud and Steve Jobs*Attract raving fans by following the cult of pistachio ice cream Whether you realize it or not, your brand is already applying one of the seven Advantages Hogshead describes here: Innovation, Passion, Power, Prestige, Mystique, Alert, or Trust. The question is, how can you apply these core Advantages to stand out in a crowded and distracted world? Hundreds of large corporations, small businesses, and universities-including Twitter, IBM, Porsche, and New York University-use the Fascinate system to captivate their customers. Why? The answers are in this book.

Movies of the 30s
The stock market crash of 1929 had left the America—and the globe—in a devastating depression that would not begin to lift until World War II. With so many jobless, penniless, broken people singing the blues, is it any wonder that Hollywood strove to distract viewers from their misery with comedies like Chaplin’s Modern Times (1936), Capra’s feel-good Mr. Deeds Goes to Town (1936), and the Marx Brothers’ hilarious Duck Soup (1933), thrillers such as Hitchcock’s seminal The 39 Steps (1935) or Hawks’s Scarface (1932), or the epic romantic classic Gone with the Wind (1939)?

New Deal Photography - USA 1935-1943
Another country: How the Farm Security Administration introduced America to AmericansAmid the ravages of the Great Depression, the United States Farm Security Administration (FSA) was first founded in 1935 to address the country s rural poverty. Its efforts focused on improving the lives of sharecroppers, tenants, and very poor landowning farmers, with resettlement and collectivization programs, as well as modernized farming methods. In a parallel documentation program, the FSA hired a number of photographers and writers to record the lives of the rural poor and introduce America to Americans. This book records the full reach of the FSA program from 1935 to 1943, honoring its vigor and commitment across subjects, states, and stylistic preferences. The photographs are arranged into four broad regional sections but otherwise allowed to speak for themselves to provide individual impressions as much as they cumulatively build an indelible survey of a nation. Through color and black-and-white images, we meet convicts, cotton workers, kids on the street, and relocated workers on the road. We see subjects victim to the elements of nature and the timeless rituals of human life, as much as to the vagaries of the global economic market. We meet Dorothea Lange s iconic Migrant Mother, weather-beaten and worn, with two children leaning on her shoulders. What unites all of the pictures is a commitment to the individuality and dignity of each subject, as much as to the witness they bear to this particular period of the American past and to universal cycles of growing, playing, eating, aging, ailing, and dying. Through the lenses of such perceptive, sensitive photographers as Dorothea Lange, Jack Delano, Russell Lee, Marion Post Wolcott, Walker Evans, and Ben Shahn, subjects are entrenched in the hardships of their historical lot, caught in the loop of humanity, and yet face the viewer with what is utterly their own: a unique, irreplaceable, often unforgettable presence.About the series: Bibliotheca Universalis Compact cultural companions celebrating the eclectic TASCHEN universe at an unbeatable, democratic price!Since we started our work as cultural archaeologists in 1980, the name TASCHEN has become synonymous with accessible, open-minded publishing.
