Thin Lizzy - Vagabonds Of The Western CD
Thin Lizzy sú írska hardrocková skupina založená v Dubline v roku 1969. Thin Lizzy spočiatku tvorili basgitarista, hlavný spevák a hlavný skladateľ Phil Lynott, bubeník Brian Downey, gitarista Eric Bell a organista Eric Wrixon, hoci Wrixon po niekoľkých mesiacoch odišiel. Garyho striedavo nahradil Snowy White v roku 1980 a John Sykes v roku 1982. Zostava bola rozšírená klávesákom Darrenom Whartonom v roku 1980. Single "Whiskey in the Jar" (1972), "The Boys Are Back in Town" (1976) a „Waiting for an Alibi“ (1979) boli medzinárodné hity a niekoľko albumov Thin Lizzy sa dostalo do prvej desiatky v Spojenom kráľovstve.

35 years of daring, defiant photography.Since her first photographs in the late '70s, Bettina Rheims has defied the predictable. From her series on Pigalle strippers (1980) to her cycle on the life of Jesus in I.N.R.I. (1998), from Chanel commercials to Gender Studies (2011), her work has shaken up traditional iconography and pushed restlessly at the breaking point between two great human preoccupations: beauty and imperfection. This Rheims retrospective showcases more than 500 photographs from 35 years of daring, often defiant, photography. Personally selected and assembled by Rheims, the collection juxtaposes renowned series such as Chambre Close with many previously unpublished archival pictures and entries from Rheims's own "diary," detailing behind-the-scenes work and personal memories. Spanning commercial work and artistic series, the retrospective impresses with each turn of the page, as much for the vigor of each image as for the thrilling variety of Rheims's subjects and aesthetics. With equal attention to anonymous subjects cast in the street as to such global beauty stars as Kate Moss, Madonna, Monica Bellucci, Claudia Schiffer, and Naomi Campbell, the book showcases Rheims's particular interest in female fragility and strength, and of the magic encounter between model and artist which disrupts codes of so-called eroticism to build up a new image system for womanhood.

A naptól keletre
1928 ősze: A Kaiser-i-Hind utasszállító hajó Bombay felé tart. A D38-as kabinban utazik Viva Holloway, a fiatal és tapasztalatlan társalkodónő, aki hatalmas fába vágta a fejszéjét.
A Naptól Keletre a bombayi elit mesés gazdagságától a Tamarind Street árváinak szívszaggató nyomorúságáig,
a barátságtalan londoni utcáktól a Bombay Jachtklub előkelő társaságáig egy letűnt világba kalauzolja az olvasót.
A csodásan részletgazdag, izgalmas karakterekkel teli történet lebilincselő olvasmányt nyújt mindenkinek.
"Ez a könyv ritka kincs... gyönyörűen megírt regény, melyet lehetetlen letenni. Ambícióról, szerelemről, túlélésről és három nő bimbózó barátságáról szól, akik maguk mögött hagyják a szürke Angliát, hogy izgalmas, egzotikus és félelmetes kalandok sorát éljék át a húszas évek Indiájában. A történet kaput nyit egy olyan helyre s időbe, ahol barátság és igaz szerelem várja az olvasót." - Delia Ephron
"Pompás, részletgazdag környezet, tökéletesen megírt karakterek. Gregson történelmi regénye elsöprő, hangulatos olvasmány." - Booklist

Saul Leiter - The Centennial Retrospective
Celebrating the centennial of Saul Leiter’s birth, the official retrospective of a revolutionary figure in twentieth-century photography.
Saul Leiter photographed and painted nearly every day for over sixty years, amassing an enormous archive, most of which remained unseen during his lifetime. Finding inspiration within a few blocks of his apartment in Lower Manhattan, he was a master at discovering beauty in the most ordinary places. Celebrated today for his evocative colour photographs of New York in the 1950s and 1960s, which were unknown in their day, Leiter also found success as a fashion photographer for Harper’s Bazaar. All the while he was shooting black-and-white street scenes on his daily walks, and nudes and intimate portraits back home, while continuing his painting explorations with abstract watercolours, whimsical sketchbooks and painted photographs.
Created in collaboration with the Saul Leiter Foundation, this definitive monograph brings together these diverse yet interconnected bodies of work – including much that was previously unpublished – to reveal the complete artist for the first time.
Broken Code
Facebook had a problem. Along with its sister platforms Instagram and WhatsApp, it was a daily destination for billions of users around the world, extolling its products for connecting people. But as a succession of scandals rocked Facebook from 2016, some began to question whether the company could control, or even understood, its own platforms.
As Facebook employees searched for answers, what they uncovered was worse than they could've imagined. The problems ran far deeper than politics. Facebook was peddling and amplifying anger, looking the other way at human trafficking, enabling drug cartels and authoritarians and allowing VIP users to break the platform's supposedly inviolable rules.
It turned out to be eminently possible to isolate many of Facebook's worst problems, but whenever employees offered solutions their work was consistently delayed, watered down or stifled by a company that valued user engagement above all else. The only option left was to blow the whistle.
In Broken Code, award-winning Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz tells the riveting inside story of these employees and their explosive discoveries, uncovering the shocking cost of Facebook's blind ambition in the process.

A Hedetske Full of Music
Foreword by Bob Stanley
On a sunny Saturday morning in May 1956, a fifteen-year-old, then called Harry Webb, was mooching down Waltham Cross High Street. He heard some music blaring out of a parked car. It stopped him in his tracks.
The song was 'Heartbreak Hotel' by Elvis Presley. It sounded like nothing he had ever heard before. In that instant, the schoolboy who was destined to take the hit parade by storm as Cliff Richard fell in love with rock and roll. It gave him the thrill, the purpose and the mission that has shaped his life ever since.
Cliff lives in and for music. And with 65 years as a hitmaker, the music filling his head is a broad category. His soundtrack begins by blasting us all back into that first life-changing explosion of rock and also includes great soul soul stars such as Aretha Franklin, longtime colleagues like Elton John, and much-missed close friends Cilla Black and Olivia Newton-John.
This book is meaningful to Cliff on many levels. The 30 or so songs here that make up the soundtrack to his life have each moved him deeply, but it's also about the legendary artists he met, and often got to know. He shares those stories and memories with you, too.
A Head Full of Music is a vibrant personal journey for Cliff, and it's a joy to accompany him on it. Get wired for sound with him and read on.

Elsewhere
‘How do you know this is all real and happening? How can you be sure you haven’t already died in the earthquake and are just living in the afterlife?’
In her highly anticipated English-language debut, Yan Ge explores isolation in nine iridescent, witty and wondrous tales. Both contemporary and ancient, real and surreal, the stories in Elsewhere range from China to Dublin to London and Stockholm.
From a group of writers lounging on the edge of a disaster zone to a mandarin ostracised from his old court trying to avoid assassination, and from a woman who inexplicably loses her voice to a couple who meet all too fleetingly at a cinema in Dublin, these are strange and beguiling stories of dispossession, longing and the diasporic experience.
