1000 Places to See Before You Die
The world’s bestselling travel book is back in a more informative, more experiential, more budget-friendly full-color edition. A #1 New York Times bestseller, 1,000 Places reinvented the idea of travel book as both wish list and practical guide. As Newsweek wrote, it “tells you what’s beautiful, what’s fun, and what’s just unforgettable— everywhere on earth.” And now the best is better. There are more than 500 full-color photographs. Over 200 entirely new entries, including visits to 28 countries like Lebanon, Croatia, Estonia, and Nicaragua, that were not in the original edition. There is an emphasis on experiences: an entry covers not just Positano and Ravello, but the full 30-mile stretch along the Amalfi Coast, Chichen Itza and Tulum are now treated as one, La Ruta Maya.Every entry from the original edition has been readdressed and made fuller, with more suggestions for places to stay, restaurants to visit, festivals to check out. And throughout, the book is more budget-conscious, recommending not only the Ritz, but also moderately priced gems that don’t compromise on atmosphere or charm.Following the romance, comes the nuts and bolts: web addresses, phone numbers, costs, best times to visit. Of special interest are subject-specific indexes, making the 1,000-plus pages entirely user-friendly, no matter if you’re dreaming or going. The world is calling. Time to answer.

Přináší informace a řadu fotografií z období zkoušek proudových letounů Avia Me 262/S-92 na letišti Žatec, obšírn
"revitalizovaných" dokumentům z Vojenského his
(1952-1954) v Mladé (1954-1955) a konečně v Hradčanech (1955-1961), tedy období podřízenosti žateckých stíhacích divizí.
y atd. V rekapitulačních přehledech najde svá jména drtivá většina pilotů a techniků od "jedenáctky" i "patnáctky". Popisy organizační výstavby útvarů doplňuje množství fotografií a obšírné přehledy funkcionářů. U leteckých pluků přehledy doplňují po
rtrétní fotografie velitelů pluku i letek (91), inženýrů pluku i letek (27), u 23. letištního praporu a 5. praporu RTZ fota velitelů útvarů (34).
SLD i "nová" 3.
řů") a nechybí ani ilustrační fotografie techniky, kterou používaly.
é citáty z dokumentů, konkrétními postřehy pamětníků a životními epizodami.

Ottolenghi - The Cookbook
'Ottolenghi changed the way we cook in this country just as surely and enduringly as Elizabeth David's A Book of Mediterranean Food had in 1950. It brought into our kitchens bold flavours, a vivid simplicity, a spirited but never tricksy inventiveness and, above all, light.' Nigella Lawson Inspired by their childhoods in West and East Jerusalem, Yotam Ottolenghi's and Sami Tamimi's original cookbook Ottolenghi: The Cookbook showcases fresh, honest, bold cooking and has become a culinary classic. Yotam and Sami's inventive yet simple dishes rest on numerous culinary traditions, ranging from North Africa to Lebanon, Italy and California. First published in 2008, this new updated edition revisits the 140 original recipes covering everything from accomplished meat and fish main courses, through to healthy and quick salads and suppers, plus Ottolenghi's famously delectable cakes and breads. A new introduction sheds fresh light on a book that has become a national favourite. Ottolenghi is an award-winning chef, being awarded with the James Beard Award 'Cooking from a Professional Point of View' for Nopi in 2016, and 'International Cookbook' for Jerusalem in 2013. In 2013 he also won four other awards for Jerusalem. Praise for Ottolenghi: `[A] book that has barely left my kitchen...the fact that Yotam Ottolenghi and Sami Tamimi have been generous to put their recipes in a book is something I had long dreamed of' Nigel Slater, The Observer Magazine `Possibly the best cookery book I have ever owned. The recipes...are well-tested and produce results that will astound your tastebuds. Try the aubergine-wrapped ricotta gnocchi with sage butter, the chicken with three-rice salad or their famous meringues and you'll know just what I mean.' Art of A Monster Calls
Discover the incredible story behind the creation of A Monster Calls, the new film from visionary director J. A. Bayona (The Impossible), based on the acclaimed novel by Patrick Ness. A Monster Calls tells the story of Conor O'Malley (Lewis MacDougall), a young boy whose world has been turned upside down by his mother's (Felicity Jones) terminal illness. Conor's life is thrown further into disarray when he is visited by a gigantic monster, formed from the bark of a tree in a nearby churchyard. The monster vows to tell Conor three stories over several visits and demands that Conor must then tell his own story. As his mother's health worsens and Conor struggles to deal with everyday life and the visits of the monster, he must confront his worst fears to survive. Also featuring the voice of Liam Neeson as the monster, plus an exceptional performance by Sigourney Weaver as Conor's grandmother, A Monster Calls is an emotionally gripping tale delivered with style and panache by director J. After Dark
The midnight hour approaches in an almost empty all-night diner. Mari sips her coffee and glances up from a book as a young man, a musician, intrudes on her solitude. Both have missed the last train home. The musician has plans to rehearse with his j

afterwards Mari will be interrupted a second time by a girl from the Alphaville Hotel; a Chinese prostitute has been hurt by a client, the girl has heard Mari speaks fluent Chinese and requests her help. Meanwhile Eri is at home and sleeps a deep, he

The Waves
I, who would wish to feel close over me the protective waves of the ordinary, catch with the tail of my eye some far horizon.' Intensely visionary yet absorbed with the everyday; experimental, daring and challenging, The Waves is regarded by many as Virginia Woolf's greatest achievement. It follows a set of six friends from childhood to middle age as they experience the world around them and explore who they are and what it means to be alive. As the contours of their lives are revealed, a unique
novel is slowly unveiled. Enfolded within Woolf's lyrical and mysterious language, the mundane takes on a startling new significance while distant pasts are no less in play than the clamorous sounds and kaleidoscopic sights of the modern city. Yet precisely where the alluringly enigmatic pages of The Waves are leading, and what deeper meanings are held within its undulant chapters and shimmering interludes, are questions that have never ceased to enthral readers and critics alike. In this new e
dition David Bradshaw considers the spellbinding oddness and originality of The Waves, helping the reader to negotiate a way though this most poetic and haunting of novels. ABOUT THE SERIES: For over 100 years Oxford World's Classics has made available the widest range of literature from around the globe. Each affordable volume reflects Oxford's commitment to scholarship, providing the most accurate text plus a wealth of other valuable features, including expert introductions by leading authorit
ies, helpful notes to clarify the text, up-to-date bibliographies for further study, and much more.

Bread Revolution
Renowned baking author and instructor Peter Reinhart has always been on the forefront of the bread movement--from his seminal work, "The Bread Baker's Apprentice," to today. In "Bread Revolution," he explores the cutting-edge developments in bread baking, with fifty recipes and formulas that use sprouted flours, whole and ancient grains, nut and seed flours, alternative flours (such as teff and grape skin), and allergy-friendly and gluten-free approaches. A new generation of bakers and millers are developing innovative flours and baking techniques that are designed to extract the grain's full flavor potential--what Reinhart calls "the baker's mission." In this lushly photographed primer, Reinhart draws inspiration from these groundbreaking methods to create master recipes and formulas any home baker can follow, including Sprouted Sandwich Rye Bread, Gluten-Free Many-Seed Toasting Bread, and Sprouted Wheat Croissants. In many instances, such as with sprouted flours, preferments aren't necessary because so much of the flavor development occurs during the sprouting phase. For grains that benefit from soakers, bigas, and sourdough starters, Reinhart provides the precise guidance that has made him such a trusted expert in the field. Advanced bakers will relish Reinhart's inventive techniques and exacting scientific explanations, while beginning bakers will rejoice in his demystification of ingredients and methods--and all will come away thrilled by bread's new frontier. *Correction to the Sprouted Whole Wheat Bread recipe on page 63: The volume measure of water should be 1 3/4 cups plus 1 tablespoon, not 3 1/4 cups.
