BOHDAN I. VEĽKÝ CÁR SIBÍRSKY Tak nazvali posmešne v roku 1919 Bohdana Pavlů, československého splnomocnenca a diplomatického zástupcu v Rusku, legionári, ktorí by už najradšej práskli do bot a čím skôr sa vrátili do vlasti, pomohli ju vydobyť od neprajných susedov, vystavať podľa vlastných predstáv a pokojne v nej žiť i so svojím potomstvom. Veľkolepá prezývka a iste lákavý názov pre biografiu, ktorá by chcela vrátiť portrétovanú osobu do historickej pamäti Slovenska i Českých zemí. Zodpovedá však len krátkemu časovému úseku v živote Bohdana Pavlů, ktorý bol omnoho bohatší a rozmanitejší. Čitateľovi ponúkam životopis v troch častiach Mladosť, Mužnosť a Múdrosť. Každá z nich je spätá s iným historickým obdobím: roky mladosti a vzdelávania s Rakúsko-Uhorskom, s Moravou, Slovenskom i Prahou, hrdinské roky mladého muža s prvou svetovou vojnou a československým odbojom v Rusku, vrchol kariéry s diplomatickými službami, keď pôsobil ako vyslanec prvej Československej republiky najprv v Bulharsku, potom v Dánsku, v rokoch 1934 1937 v Sovietskom zväze, a napokon až do predčasnej smrti v máji 1938 ako zástupca československého ministra zahraničných vecí v Prahe. Študoval právo, miloval literatúru a fascinovala ho politika. Ako literárny kritik a jeden zo zakladateľov literárneho časopisu Prúdy je na Slovensku pomerne známy. Mojím cieľom bolo predstaviť ho ako prvotriedneho novinára a diplomata. A tiež vyjadriť súhlas s výrokom jeho spolubojovníka z Ruska Ivana Markoviča: Ak by sme hodnotili poradie vedúcich osobností prvého československého zahraničného odboja podľa ich významu, po trojhviezdí Masaryk, Štefánik a Beneš nasleduje Bohdan Pavlů.
