Ambrosiánský ritus
Liturgické tradice jednotlivých středisek církevního života se od počátku křesťanství navzájem ovlivňovaly a postupně docházelo k jejich sbližování. V raném středověku převládl na Západě římský ritus a z původních liturgických tradic přetrvaly do 21. století pouze dvě: vedle hispánské liturgie také tradice milánská neboli ambrosiánská, kterou představuje tato kniha. Ambrosiánská bohoslužba se po celé dějiny rozvíjela v nedalekém sousedství Říma, některé prvky z římské tradice přebírala, jinými prvky naopak římskou liturgii obohatila. Záľuba v horách sa u otca Krzysztofa Grzywocza prejavovala od útleho veku. 17. augusta 2017 v Alpách neďaleko vrcholu Bortelhorn na hranici medzi Švajčiarskom a Talianskom sa stratil. 23. augusta 2017 bolo pátranie oficiálne ukončené - otec Krzysztof Grzywocz bol vyhlásený za nezvestného.

Angels
How often we use expressions like, ‘thank you for doing that, you’re such an angel’, without really thinking about it, referring to angels as helpful and rather sweet, possibly with a picture in mind of a tall female with big feathery wings. Despite this typecasting, scripture reveals angels as somewhat fearsome messengers from God who must constantly reassure people not to be afraid. The messages they bring are for the benefit of God's people, for salvation and healing. In this exploration of angels, Sister Raphael reflects on her reading of Bible passages and related texts to examine how angels might lead us into a greater understanding of God's love and purposes for us all.
Hermetic Spirituality and the Historical Imagination
In Egypt during the first centuries CE, men and women would meet discreetly in their homes, in temple sanctuaries, or insolitary places to learn a powerful practice of spiritual liberation. They thought of themselves as followers of Hermes Trismegistus, the legendary master of ancient wisdom. While many of their writings are lost, those that survived have been interpreted primarily as philosophical treatises about theological topics. Wouter J. Hanegraaff challenges this dominant narrative by demonstrating that Hermetic literature was concerned with experiential practices intended for healing the soul from mental delusion. The Way of Hermes involved radical alterations of consciousness in which practitioners claimed to perceive the true nature of reality behind the hallucinatory veil of appearances. Hanegraaff explores how practitioners went through a training regime that involved luminous visions, exorcism, spiritual rebirth, cosmic consciousness, and union with the divine beauty of universal goodness and truth to attain the salvational knowledge known as gnôsis.
Killing the Messiah
Long ago, on a spring morning in Jerusalem, Pontius Pilate passed judgement on a mysterious preacher. Jesus of Nazareth was nailed to a cross shortly after and died in agony. The effects of this verdict have reverberated throughout the world and have shaped two millennia of history. Even so, the trial remains shrouded in mystery to this day. The New Testament Gospels are unclear about what charges Pontius Pilate judged. They portray Pilate as embracing Jesus'' innocence despite having him killed. We are left with more questions than answers. Why did Pontius Pilate condemn a man he believed innocent? What was Jesus'' crime? How should we understand Pilate''s role in Jesus'' execution? Killing the Messiah addresses these questions and analyzes Pilate''s path to crucifying Jesus. It also probes how the personal motivations and social obligations of Pilate and other authorities affected how they assessed Jesus'' criminality. To do this, it situates Jesus'' trial within the geo-political context of the Roman Middle East. In the decades before Jesus'' lifetime, and throughout the centuries that followed, Roman courts determined the outcomes of millions of trials throughout the region. Jesus'' trial took place in the same basic legal apparatus as all of these. By approaching the arrest, trial, and sentencing of Jesus from the perspective of Roman and legal history, this book sheds fresh light on the most famous conviction in world history.
