Régi filmekben lehet látni, amint vándorszínészek zötykölődő "ekhósszekérrel", ponyvákkal takart ócska járműveken róják az országutakat. Maguk varrják a jelmezeket, festik a díszleteket, írják a plakátokat, aki épp nem szerepel, beáll súgónak vagy kellékesnek. Ott alszanak, ahol rájuk sötétedik, kocsmákban, istállókban lépnek föl, sokszor a szabad ég alatt...
Romantikus életnek tűnik, ám a valóságban egyáltalán nem volt az. Nagyon sok többé vagy kevésbé tehetséges művész vállalta ezt az életformát, amelyben a lemondás általában százszor több volt, mint az elért siker. Persze az is igaz, hogy a vándorszínészet nem mindig jelentett kóborlást - sokszor sikerült valamelyik városban "gyökeret ereszteni", és ott hosszabb időre letelepedni.
Nők is járták az országot. A "hirdetésre" jelentkező első színész, Moór Anna, Kántorné és a leghíresebb Déryné Széppataki Róza. Ő még megérte, hogy az utazásokból kőszínházba kerüljön, még ott is rámosolygott a siker - valódi lételemét mégis a vidéki fellépések jelentették.
Aztán ott volt Schodelné Klein Rózsi, az első operaénekesnő, akiről kevesen tudják, hogy az ő produkciójának emlékét őrzi a Normafa. Későbbi életét és pályafutását egy nagy szerelemnek áldozta föl. Hollósy Kornélia egy dúsgazdag örmény "nábob" lányából lett az egyik legnépszerűbb énekesnő.
Laborfaly Rózát akár a múzsák kötetben is tárgyalhattuk volna, hiszen Jókai Mórral kötött házassága legalább olyan érdekes és fordulatos, mint a hölgy színpadi pályafutása. Bulyovszky Lilla előle menekült el nemcsak a Nemzeti Színházból, hanem az országból is, és lett "majdnem világhírű".
Végül Prielle Kornélia, akit fiatalon Petőfi akart elvenni, de ő egy olyan színésztársát választotta, akivel "se vele, se nélküle" házasságba jutott: elvált tőle, majd újra hozzáment. A Nemzeti Színházban ő kapta meg először az "örökös tag".
Ekkoriban kezdődött a balett is, a mára már csaknem ismeretlen Aranyváry Emíliával, aki balerina volt és koreográfus. Aztán úgy 40 éves kora körül egyszer csak megmagyarázhatatlan módon eltűnt, nyoma veszett - máig se derült ki, mi történt vele...

Monografia František Horniak približuje širokej verejnosti ryteckú a známkovú tvorbu jedného z prvých slovenských oceľorytcov, ktorého tvorba dosiahla v súčasnosti najvýznamnejšie medzinárodné ocenenie v oblasti tvorby známok. Bohatým obrazovým materiálom dokumentujúcim Horniakovu ryteckú tvorbu a autorka A. Paulinyová predstavuje dielo umelca a súčasne ponúka pohľad na tvorbu známkovej oceľorytiny, špecifickej ryteckej disciplíny, ktorej história sa na Slovensku začala písať až v posledných desaťročiach minulého storočia. The Representation of the Shoah in Literature, Theatre and Film in Central Europe: 1950s and 1960s
Publikace shrnuje příspěvky z mezinárodního workshopu konaného v listopadu 2011 v Praze. Seminář se zabýval tématem šoa/holokaustu v literatuře, v divadle a filmu v padesátých a šedesátých letech. Navázal na předchozí workshopy v německém Gießenu a v polské Łódzi (2010, 2011). Jednotlivé příspěvky se soustřeďují zvláště na českou a polskou literaturu (Jiří Weil, Norbert Frýd, Jan Otčenášek, Ladislav Fuks, Josef Škvorecký, Adolf Rudnicki, diskurz šoa v polské literatuře), na drama a divadlo (Leon Kruczkowski, Ireneusz Iredyński, Hedda Zinner, západoněmecké drama s tématem šoa), film (Spalovač mrtvol, Jákob lhář), ale také na kresby dětí v Terezíně či zobrazení šoa z pohledu dítěte. Příspěvky vycházejí v anglickém a německém jazyce ve spolupráci s Centrem židovských studií FF UK.

Kniha je určena jak pro odbornou veřejnost a sběratele, tak i pro všechny milovníky sklářského umění, neboť vedle historického významu klade zároveň důraz na estetické hodnoty českého skla. Bez přehánění lze konstatovat, že se jedná o zatím nejzevrubněji a po obrazové stránce nejvytříbeněji zpracovanou kapitolu z dějin světového fenoménu, kterým české sklo bezesporu je.
