Postava svätého Gerarda, jedného z najvýznamnejších predstaviteľov uhorskej cirkvi v 11. storočí, púta pozornosť z viacerých perspektív. Gerard je jedným z mála vzdelancov pôsobiacich v raných stredoeurópskych kresťanských kráľovstvách a kniežatstvách, ktorých dielo sa čiastočne zachovalo.
Prostredníctvom vzácneho teologicko-filozofického spisu, úvah či „rozjímania“svätého Gerarda (Deliberatio Gerardi) – zachovaného v jedinom stredovekom rukopise – máme možnosť nahliadnuť do autentických myšlienok, úvah a biblických interpretácií prvého čanádskeho biskupa.
