Cry When the Baby Cries
‘By turns bloody, sweet, bleak and joyful… It is also very, very funny’ NEW STATESMANThis is a graphic memoir (like a graphic novel, but true – and also a bit graphic). It’s about the delirium, chaos and strangeness of becoming a parent for the first time. It’s for every one who has ever wondered if it’s ok to cry when the baby cries – and also laugh, snort, lie on the floor naked and drool when the baby drools. This is definitely not a parenting manual, but it might be the only book about parenting you’ll ever need. ‘You will cry, yes, but mainly snort with laughter’ SUNDAY TIMES'The most accurate account of becoming a parent I have ever read' PHILIPPA PERRY'Bracingly truthful... very funny' OBSERVER'It made me laugh, weep, cheer and howl... essential reading for parents and their peers.' NELL FRIZZELL‘So clever, so funny, so astute, so healing. Becky Barnicoat is a stone cold genius' LUCY JONES

A Forever War
A Forever War: Israel and Palestine achieves something quite extraordinary. At a time when passions run high and the Israel-Gaza war intensifies, so much coverage is based on prejudice, fear and ignorance. Colin Shindler, Emeritus Professor of Israel Studies at SOAS, presents a calm, scholarly and dispassionate view of the past and of what might lie ahead. Since the founding of the State of Israel in 1948, the Middle East has been thrown into conflict. Shindler reflects on the key questions: How did this state of affairs come about? Is it even possible to write an impartial account? Could all the conflict have been avoided? How is it that Israel itself is a divided nation and even other Arab nations treat the Palestinians so badl? n both sides are the extremists - terrorists and ultra-nationalist religious Jews who are determined to seize land from Palestinians and dream of a new Jewish theocracy based on a Greater Israel - but A Forever War strives for objectivity and asks how we can best approach the truth in a time of such complex division.

Warriors of Athena: Heroes
A solo/cooperative skirmish wargame of heroism and adventure in the realms of Greek myth. In an age of monsters, humanity is besieged, sheltering in isolated city states as the forces of destruction ravage the land. There is a spark of hope, however – the demigods. These heroes, born of the gods and granted some of the power of their divine parents, stand fast against the chaos. Explorers, warriors, and diplomats, they sail the wine-dark sea, seeking adventure, battling horrific creatures, and protecting the helpless. Warriors of Athena can be played in three ways: solo, with one brave hero leading their crew into the unknown; cooperatively, with heroes banding together for a great expedition; or with one player taking on the role of Oracle, scripting scenarios and presenting challenges for the heroes to overcome. This Heroes book contains all the core rules needed to play Warriors of Athena. With simple D20-based mechanics, the rules are quick to pick up, while an extensive range of character options, from arms and armour to divine origins, abilities, and treasures to discover, makes your heroes your own. Create your demigod, assemble their loyal crew, and set out into the perilous Aegean to forge a legend!Players will also need the rules for scenarios and adversaries found in Warriors of Athena: Quests to make full use of this book.
The Hiroshima Boy
As the soldiers lifted me from the floor, my father's eyes locked with my own. For just a moment, I thought I saw a shadow of sadness across his face. But it disappeared as quickly as it had arrived, replaced with my father's look of perpetual determination. "You'll find me at the hospital," I said to him. He made no response to this. "Be well, Shinji," he replied to me. Shinji Mikamo, a teenager, is on the roof of his house, working with his father, when there is a blinding flash. When he regains consciousness, he is severely injured, burned all over his body, and buried in the rubble of a building. Somehow, his father manages to pull him out, and together they begin to search for help. They were - it turned out - only 1200 metres away from the centre of the explosion. The Hiroshima Boy tells the story of Shinji and his father's journey through Hiroshima as they come face to face with the utter destruction of the city and meet neighbours, friends and strangers enduring unimaginable agony. Running from an enormous fire engulfing their neighbourhood, they reach the banks of the Kyobashi River. But the water provides little comfort, and the scenes they find there are devastating. For the next four days, they roam, searching for food, water and refuge in excruciating pain. Eventually, they reach a village outside Hiroshima City, where Shinji is able to be transferred to a hospital. But to do so he must leave his father, not knowing whether he will ever see him again... Told simply and powerfully, The Hiroshima Boy is an extraordinary first-person account of survival, suffering, courage and hope.

Shiva
In the stillness of the cosmos exists a force both boundless and paradoxical – Shiva. More than a god, he is the formless essence that both creates and consumes the universe. His realms transcend time, his actions defy logic, yet within them lies a cosmic rhythm governing all beings.
Shiva: God of Gods is a journey into the heart of Shaivism. With poetic depth and philosophical clarity, it traverses sacred terrain, from the thunderous stillness of Mount Kailash to Rudra’s cosmic dance.
The book is both a spiritual exploration and scholarly reflection, delving into the many faces of the Divine – the cultural significance of the linga, the meaning behind Shiva’s images, his fierce yet loving relationship with Parvati, the symbolism of the third eye, and the wisdom found in texts such as the Shiva Sutras and the Puranas.
