Hunger and Thirst
1987: After a childhood trauma and years in and out of the care system, sixteen-year-old Ursula finds herself with a new job in the postroom of a local art school, a bed in a halfway house, and-delightfully- some new friends, including wild-child, Sue. When Ursula is invited to join a squat at The Underwood, a mysterious house whose owners met a terrible end, she can't resist the promise of a readymade, hodgepodge family.
But as Sue's behaviour and demands become more extreme, Ursula who has always been hungry-for food-and more importantly for love, acceptance and belonging, carries out her friend's terrible dare. It's a decision that will haunt her for decades.
Thirty-six years later, Ursula is a renowned, reclusive sculptor living under a pseudonym in London when her identity is exposed by true-crime documentary-maker who is digging into an unsolved disappearance. But it is not only the filmmaker who has discovered Ursula's whereabouts, and as her past catches up with her present, Ursula must work out whether the monsters are within her or without.
From critically acclaimed and award-winning author, Claire Fuller, Hunger and Thirst is a compelling and chilling tale of loneliness and female friendship, of the dangerous line between wanting and needing, and of how far a person will go to truly belong.
Dissection of a Murder
**ALL first edition hardback copies feature beautiful sprayed edges - available while stock lasts**
Breathlessly compulsive courtroom drama with expertly-crafted twists that you won't see coming, Dissection of a Murder is the razor-sharp debut novel from Jo Murray.
A dead judge. A silent defendant. And a courtroom full of liars.
When Leila Reynolds is handed her first murder case, she's shocked at how high-profile it is: the murder of a well-respected, well-known judge. This shouldn't be the kind of case she's leading; it's way beyond her expertise. But the defendant, Jack Millman, is clear. He wants her, and only her.
To make things worse, he's refusing to talk. How is she supposed to prove herself on what appears to be an unwinnable case?
Losing is not an option. She must find the most persuasive argument. Trials aren't won by convincing judges or fellow barristers - they're all about convincing a jury.
Suddenly, Leila finds herself fighting not only to keep Jack out of prison, but also to keep her own secrets buried.
It's true what they say - there are two sides to every story.
Guilty or not guilty?
You decide . . .

His life intersects with theirs across decades and continents, from Tunis to Berlin and New York. And when Evelyn goes missing, it's Jonas who tracks her down - and helps break the curse that has loomed over the Mikkolas for years.

Shrink Solves Murder
Her 3 o'clock just became a murder case...
When a body is found near Beachy Head, the police chalk it up to suicide - a tragic but not uncommon end in these parts.
But local psychotherapist Patricia Phillips isn't convinced.
The victim? Her three o'clock patient, Henry Clayton.
The cause of death is supposedly self-inflicted. Yet Pat can't shake the belief that someone wanted Henry Clayton dead. She spends her working life listening to histories and secrets, and she has a nose for when a story doesn't quite ring true.
Drawn from the therapy room to the crime scene, Pat begins to notice what others appear to overlook.
At her side is her best friend Prichard - a home-brewer of fearsome, stomach-turning concoctions, an excellent cook, and a man who seems to get along with everyone. Which makes him useful for infiltrating village life.
As Pat and Prichard look beneath the village's thin veneer of normality - one that barely conceals its appetites - they discover a killer hiding in plain sight.
Shrink Solves Murder is a warm, witty, and perceptive crime caper from the nation's favourite therapist.

The Heart-Shaped Tin
Winner of the André Simon Food Book Award Shortlisted for the Fortnum & Mason Food Book Award ‘Extraordinary’ TELEGRAPH ? 'Delightful' GUARDIAN 'Bee Wilson is one of my favourite writers and this may be her best book' CHRIS VAN TULLEKEN This strikingly original account from award-winning food writer Bee Wilson charts how everyday objects take on deeply personal meanings in all our lives. One ordinary day, the tin in which Bee Wilson baked her wedding cake fell to the ground at her feet. This should have been unremarkable, except that her marriage had just ended. Unsettled by her own feelings about the heart-shaped tin, Wilson begins a search for others who have attached strong and even magical meanings to kitchen objects. She meets people who deal with grief or pain by projecting emotions onto certain objects, whether it is a beloved parent’s salt shaker, a cracked pasta bowl or an inherited china dinner service. Remembering her own mother, a dementia sufferer, she explores the ways that both of them have been haunted by deciding which kitchen utensils to hold on to and which to get rid of when you think you are losing your mind. Looking to different continents, cultures and civilisations to investigate the full scope of this phenomenon, Wilson blends her own experiences with a series of touching personal stories that reflect the irrational and fundamentally human urge to keep mementos. Why would a man trapped in a concentration camp decide to make a spoon for himself? Why do some people hoard? What do gifts mean? How do we decide what is junk and what is treasure? We see firsthand how objects can contain hidden symbols, keep the past alive and even become powerful symbols of identity and resistance; from a child’s first plate to a refugee’s rescued vegetable corers. Thoughtful, tender and beautifully written, The Heart-Shaped Tin is a moving examination of love, loss, broken cups and the legacy of things we all leave behind. ‘With candour and intelligence, Wilson highlights how the props of domestic life become markers of the progress of our lives, but more movingly she probes that it’s possible to recover from heartache with gusto’ The Times & Sunday Times Books of the Year 2025 ‘Fascinating and also tender’ Diana Henry ‘This beautifully written book about the deep significance of certain objects in our kitchen – is nothing less than an intense, compassionate expression of the human condition … Both intimate and expansive, The Heart-Shaped Tin is a book I know I’ll give, urgently and importantly, to those I love’ Nigella Lawson ‘Very few food writers can do what Bee does. It made me think again – and with more tenderness – about the kitchen objects that I ordinarily take for granted. These are the human stories embedded in our material culture, and Bee brings them effortlessly to life’ Ruby Tandoh 'Heart-wrenching and heart-warming in equal measure. No one is so good at capturing the everyday magic of kitchens, cooking and life as Bee Wilson' Letitia Clark ‘Bee Wilson has changed the landscape of the kitchen by breathing life into ordinary objects. Through this remarkable book you will find yourself discovering meaning in plates, sadness in spoons, love in a measuring cup. I want to give this book to every cook I know’ Ruth Reichl 'A moving and fascinating exploration of the vital role played by household objects in our love of home and family' Sophie Hannah

Disonance a fata morgána
Kniha Disonance a fata morgána je závěrečnou částí dlouhodobého projektu mapujícího českou literaturu 20. století, stejně jako metodologické možnosti, jimiž v současnosti disponuje literární historie. Projekt byl zahájen v roce 2010 publikací Dějiny nové moderny. Česká literatura v letech 1905–1923 a pokračoval pak dalšími díly: Lomy vertikál. Česká literatura v letech 1924–1934 (2014), Věk horizontál. Česká literatura v letech 1935–1947 (2017) a Chór a disonance.
Krátké období, v němž individualistické hlasy vítězily nad režimní „chóričností“ a otevíraly výhled do velkého světa svobody, bylo přerušeno drastickými událostmi okupace v srpnu 1968 a následnou „normalizací“.
Publikace „Judikatura práva rodiny – čtvrtý doplněk“ navazuje na předchozí publikace ediční řady a zahrnuje části nazvané Rodičovství, otcovství a mateřství, Participační práva dětí, Výživné, Procesní otázky, Společné jmění manželů, Úprava styku, Majetkové otázky práva rodiny, Správní a trestní otázky práva rodiny. Přesahuje tedy hranice samotného oboru rodinného práva a přináší široké spektrum odpovědí.
Edice obsahuje odbornou i přátelskou korespondenci adresovanou Bohuslavu Havránkovi, přednímu lingvistovi 20. století. Zahrnuje období od roku 1924 do roku 1977. Její hlavní část spadá do čtyřicátých a padesátých let 20. století z pera trojice význačných vědců: Františka Trávníčka, Vladimíra Šmilauera a Bohuslava Havránka (jim úspěšně sekunduje lexikograf Alois Získal).
