Hlavným cieľom nového zákona o rovnakom odmeňovaní mužov a žien za rovnakú prácu alebo za prácu rovnakej hodnoty je transponovať do právneho poriadku Slovenskej republiky smernicu Európskeho parlamentu a Rady (EÚ), ktorou sa posilňuje uplatňovanie zásady rovnakej odmeny pre mužov a ženy za rovnakú prácu alebo prácu rovnakej hodnoty prostredníctvom transparentnosti odmeňovania a mechanizmov presadzovania. Napriek existujúcej právnej úprave zakazujúcej diskrimináciu v oblasti odmeňovania z dôvodu pohlavia pretrvávajú na Slovensku významné rozdiely v odmeňovaní mužov a žien. Z ekonomického hľadiska predstavujú rozdiely v odmeňovaní mužov a žien významnú stratu pre spoločnosť aj jednotlivcov. Neefektívne využívanie ľudských zdrojov a nedocenenie kvalifikovanej pracovnej sily žien vedie k zníženiu celkovej produktivity ekonomiky. Spravodlivé odmeňovanie môže prispieť k zvýšeniu motivácie zamestnancov, zníženiu fluktuácie a celkovému ekonomickému rastu. Súčasná právna úprava v oblasti rovnakého zaobchádzania, ktorá je obsiahnutá predovšetkým v antidiskriminačnom zákone a Zákonníku práce, síce zakazuje diskrimináciu v odmeňovaní z dôvodu pohlavia, avšak neobsahuje dostatočné nástroje na efektívne presadzovanie tohto práva v praxi. Zamestnanci a zamestnankyne často nemajú prístup k informáciám o úrovniach odmien kolegov vykonávajúcich rovnakú prácu alebo prácu rovnakej hodnoty, čo im znemožňuje identifikovať diskriminačné praktiky a efektívne uplatňovať svoje práva. Cieľom zákona je zaviesť systém transparentnosti odmeňovania, ktorý umožní efektívne monitorovanie a posudzovanie rozdielov v odmeňovaní medzi mužmi a ženami a ktorý zabezpečí, aby zamestnávatelia zaviedli štruktúry odmeňovania založené na objektívnych kritériách. Tieto kritériá musia zahŕňať zložitosť, zodpovednosť, namáhavosť, pracovné podmienky a ďalšie faktory, ktoré sú relevantné pre konkrétne pracovné miesto alebo pracovnú pozíciu, v rámci ktorých sa prihliada na mäkké zručnosti, ktorými sú najmä sociálne a komunikačné schopnosti, pričom tieto kritéria sa nesmú priamo ani nepriamo zakladať na pohlaví

Tajuplné príbehy spod Nízkych Tatier
Hole, Alpes, Nižné Tatry... To je len časť pomenovaní pre pohorie, ktoré dnes poznáme ako Nízke Tatry. Ale vôbec nie sú nízke, veď ich najvyšší vrch, legendárny Ďumbier, sa týči do nadmorskej výšky 2 046 m. Tiahnu sa v dĺžke takmer sto kilometrov stredom Slovenska, oddeľujú údolia Váhu a Hrona. Sú súčasťou Karpát a majú všetko, čo k takému poriadnemu karpatskému horstvu patrí.
Divoké, hlboké hory odpradávna vyvolávali strach, obavy či nedôveru ľudí, ktorí sa usadili pod nimi. Na vrchy a do ich ľadovcových kotlov umiestňovali nadprirodzené bytosti. Postupne však začali horstvo osídľovať a využívať čoraz viac. Zažívali pritom množstvo dobrodružstiev. Pretože nemali výdobytky modernej civilizácie, svoje príhody, príbehy, fantazijné predstavy, ku ktorým hory prirodzene podnecovali, si po večeroch rozprávali či spievali, pretavili ich do množstva krásnych, úprimných výtvorov ľudovej slovesnosti.

A 19. század közepére az ipari forradalomnak köszönhetően a divat változása felgyorsult, követése pedig szélesebb körű lett. A gépesített textilipar nagy mennyiségben gyártott alapanyagokat, így uzletileg is nyereséges lett állandóan megújuló divatot alkotni: szezononként új ruhákat tervezni, az információt terjeszteni, hirdetni, majd a megrendelők adottságaihoz igazítva az öltözékeket elkészíteni. Így a szakma is átalakult: céhes mesterség helyett sok embert foglalkoztató, profitorientált iparággá vált, amelynek célja az igények felkeltése és a fogyasztás fokozása lett.
A kötet a 19. század közepétől a 20. század közepéig mutatja be a női divat szuletését: azokat az alkotókat, divatházakat, akik meghatározók voltak Párizsban és Budapesten, valamint azt a mechanizmust, ahogy a divat terjesztése történt. A francia főváros ebben az időszakban megkerulhetetlen volt, a magyar szabók pedig lehetőségeikhez mérten törekedtek az újdonságok minél gyorsabb átvételére, az információk megszerzésére.
