There are two others, and more that came before them. Desperate to hold on to the one bright spot in her dark world, she must unravel the mystery of what happened to them all before she loses Finn forever.
Secure
What's the secret to finding success, happiness and love? You need to feel SECURE.
How do you become more connected to the people around you, without the fear of being hurt? How can you stop overthinking and letting your emotions impair your judgement? Is it possible to learn emotional resilience?
People with a secure attachment style are the most comfortable not just in their relationships, but also in their own skin. Living life in 'secure mode' enables them to cope more effectively with challenges across many areas of life - they're healthier, less reactive, less driven by insecurity, and better able to navigate setbacks and even social media. It is as though they move through the world with a kind of resilient bubble around them.
But new research reveals that your attachment style isn't fixed. Anyone can become SECURE.
In Secure, Dr Amir Levine - multimillion-copy-bestselling author of Attached, and the world's leading expert on the clinical application of attachment science - introduces a transformative framework feeling more secure in your career, your friendships, your romantic life and beyond.
Along the way, he makes a simple, revolutionary argument: when you harness the power of secure mode, you can create the life you want.
It's never too late to become SECURE. This book will show you how.
Selling Pharmaka, Buying Health in Ancient Greece and Rome
In antiquity, selling pharmacological preparations and recipes could mean very big business indeed. The import and trade of exotic pharmacological ingredients, in particular those coming from India, has received some scholarly attention but the process whereby these ingredients were combined into desirable concoctions, advertised and sold has been more neglected. This monograph attempts to bridge the gap between ancient medical and socio-economic history, addressing an academic audience of both social and economic historians as well as historians of medicine and technology. It examines material from the fifth century BCE (the date of the first medical treatises included in the Hippocratic Corpus) to the seventh century (the century in which Paul of Aegina, the last of the early Byzantine medical authors, composed his work) with a particular focus on the period from the first century BCE to the third century CE.
Mr. Chow's Night Market
Mr. Chow lives for the night, when the moon is a wok full of simmering oil. Too bad he owns a supermarket and has to wake up very, very early. Mr. Chow hates mornings and so does his store: The shopping carts are sluggish, the front door yawns, and the pomelos roll down the aisle in a sleepy daze. When disaster strikes, Mr. Chow seeks advice from other workers and the similarly buoyant, anthropromophic buildings they work in. And soon, he discovers that his store doesn't have to be a morning market... it can be a night market!
Andhar Bil
In 1947, and then in 1971, in the South Asian subcontinent, entire communities of people crossed newly-created borders to find new homes as partitions divided and reshaped countries. Kalyani Thakur?s beautiful and evocative novel, tells the story of her people, Dalits belonging to the Matua sect, who settled around a local water body ? Andhar Bil ? in the new nation. Reminiscent of the beloved bil they left behind at home, the refugees begin, slowly and painfully, to rebuild their lives. As children play in and around the bil ? the central ?character? in the novel ? people seek out varieties of fish and cook them in ways that recall the flavours of home, festivals and boat races take place, jute is farmed and sold, floods arrive and push people to high ground, marriages happen and property disputes unfold. The still waters of the bil absorb and hold all these stories and the boroi tree stands in the centre of the bil, a silent witness to everything. Through this episodic, almost plotless novel is woven the story of Kamalini, a young girl who will, one day, journey to the city, leaving her beloved Andhar Bil behind, just as her parents? generation left their villages and their beloved bil in what became another country.
Ain't Nobody, Nobody
Still reeling from the scandal that cost him his badge, Randy Mayhill – fallen lawman, dog rescuer, Dr Pepper enthusiast – sees a return from community exile in the form of a dead hog trapper perched on a fence. The fence belongs to the late Van Woods, Mayhill’s best friend and the reason for his spectacular fall. Determined toprotect Van’s land and family from another scandal, Mayhill ignores the sherriff who replaced him and investigates the death of the unidentified man. His quest crosses with two others: Birdie, Van’s surly, mourning daughter, who has no intention of sitting idly by and leaving her father’s legacy in Mayhill’s hands; and Bradley, Birdie’sslow, malnourished but loyal friend, whose desperation to escape a life of poverty has him working with local criminals, and possibly a murderer. A riveting debut novel about family and loyalty, old grudges and new lives, Ain't Nobody Nobody is a cross between Faulkner and Breaking Bad, from a talented new writer with anauthentic Texas voice.
The Gospel of John
The contentious life and times of the most widely cited book of the New TestamentWritten some two thousand years ago, the Gospel of John is the only Christian Gospel to place Jesus at the creation of the world, and the only one where we find the stories of the raising of Lazarus, the woman taken in adultery, and the changing of water into wine at the wedding in Cana. The Gospel of John also points an accusing finger at Jesus’s Jewish opponents and has been used by medieval crusaders, Protestant reformers, and white supremacists to legitimize antisemitic violence. Kim Haines-Eitzen traces the legacy of this complex, beautiful, and at times deeply troubling work, from its composition in the late first century to its enduring power today. Haines-Eitzen sheds light on the book’s reception by early Christian gnostic and patristic commentators, its use in the Crusades and Reformation, its revered status among American evangelicals, and the many ways it has inspired novels, films, music, and art. The earliest papyrus fragment of an identifiably Christian Gospel is a fragment of John, and John is the only canonical Gospel that depicts Jesus as a savior who teaches openly about his divinity. Haines-Eitzen shows how John simultaneously carries a message of inclusion and intolerance, and how its story teaches us about the nature and enormous influence of scriptural religions. Compelling and provocative, The Gospel of John reveals how this dynamic, malleable biblical work has both unified and divided Christians over centuries of translation, interpretation, and creative reimagining.

Zeus and Hera
A landmark study of the archetypal father, husband, and wife in Greek religion and mythWhat did Zeus mean to the Greeks of antiquity? Who was Hera, archetypally united with Zeus as if they were a human couple? Examining the word Zeus and its Greek synonyms theos and daimon, acclaimed mythologist and historian of religion Carl Kerényi traces the origins of Greek religion to the Minoan-Mycenean civilization. He shows how Homer’s view of the gods decisively shaped the literary and artistic tradition of Greek divine mythology and how the emergence of the Olympian family became the expression of a humane Zeus cult determined by the father image but formed within the domain of Hera.

1996
'Tony Adams calls it a “celebration of recovery.” It’s a monument to candour too. Gruesome memories come with smiles… The fresh detail in his new autobiography, 1996, adds layers that are both harrowing and redemptive as he goes about the work of helping others.' PAUL HAYWARD, The ObserverIt was the summer of Euro 96 and England was in party mood as the nation hosted a major tournament, revelling in watching Gazza and Co reach the semi-finals. For the national team's captain Tony Adams, though, it masked a misery that had been building all year, with his wife leaving and his children being removed from him as a result of his dangerous and damaging drinking. Following Gareth Southgate's crushing penalty miss against Germany, Adams proceeded to embark on a 44-day bender to drown sorrows that learned how to swim and led him into some seamy, sordid situations. Finally, he could take no more and desperation drove him to quit the booze and get help. A year that had begun in dark despair would end in a new lightness of being. In 1996, Adams revisits in candid, graphic detail that year when football came home but England's thirty years of hurt continued. And, as he reaches his 60th birthday, he reflects with trademark honesty and accumulated wisdom on his own remarkable thirty years off hurt.

Aragoa elátkozott királyságában a mágikus képességek büntetése halál.
Amber Hamilton modern, komor tündérmeséjét lehetetlen letenni.
