Burnt Mounds and the Bronze Age Exploitation of the Suffolk Claylands
This volume focuses on remains of the Beaker period to Late Bronze Age/Early Iron Age (c. 2400–350 BC) from three multi-period developer-funded excavations on the clay uplands of Suffolk, within which four burnt mounds were investigated. The sites were excavated by Cotswold Archaeology (CA) and Suffolk Archaeology Community Interest Company (CIC) (now Cotswold Archaeology). At Marham Park (Fornham All Saints), overlooking the valley of the River Lark, features included a Beaker period burnt mound complex, a Beaker roundhouse, Beaker pits, an Early Bronze Age burnt mound complex, Middle Bronze Age field systems/enclosures and probable Late Bronze Age/Early Iron Age land division boundaries. At Laxfield, above a tributary of the River Blyth, a burnt mound site of earlier Bronze Age date was located in the vicinity of subsequent Middle Bronze Age enclosures. At Hepworth, a fragmentary Beaker period/Early Bronze Age burnt mound site was recorded on higher land above tributaries of the River Dove.

Dog Star
An inviting and poignant new collection exploring our increasingly turbulent relationship with nature, from award-winning poet Michael Symmons Roberts'I love Michael Symmons Roberts' poetry' Jeanette Winterson'An existential wrestle between body and soul ... sure-footed' Guardian, Best New PoetryDog Star is a book of linked poems rooted in encounters with real, imagined or mythical birds, trees, fish, flowers, bacteria, chimeras – ancient connections reshaped by technological and political change and critically endangered by species and habitat loss. His poems are always attentive to glimpses of grace and presence, but always embodied and grounded. In this new book, that attention is sharper and more urgent than ever, at a time when the essential spiritual relationship between humanity and other forms of life is broken or lost. Some encounters in Dog Star are head-on, face-to-face, some are more slant, distant, missed connections. There’s an elegiac sequence for the poet’s mother with each step measured in animals, an extended riff on the world as an aquarium and our lives seen through water – creatures dead and living, met in the flesh or mediated via film or stories. This is a profound, remarkable book by one of our major poets. 'The clearest and purest voice currently sounding in British poetry' Carol Ann Duffy'An outstanding writer' Sunday Times

But not just any friend – a very special friend, to whom it can give a tiny but amazing gift. The gift is a magical seedling. Floodlines
The new novel from the award-winning author of Guapa; and a sweeping, multi-generational saga that traces the fractured bonds between three Iraqi-British sistersIn the summer of 2014, three estranged Iraqi-British sisters are drawn back into each other’s orbits through the discovery of their late father’s lost paintings. As Mediha, Zainab, and Ishtar lay claim to his legacy—an inheritance laced with exile, betrayal, and an Iraq they no longer recognise—Zainab’s son Nizar, a war correspondent haunted by his time on the front lines, returns to the family fold. As summer bleeds into autumn and the truth about the paintings unfurls, the family is forced to confront the personal and political betrayals that tore them apart. Spanning continents and decades, Floodlines grapples with grief and memory, and charts the emotional and political aftershocks of a century of war and revolution in Iraq and beyond. Inspired by the artistic legacy of Haddad’s great uncle, the Iraqi modernist painter Jewad Selim, Floodlines explores family, queerness, and the wounds of (neo)colonialism in haunting, visceral prose.
