V kentuckom meste Fiasco existuje len jedno pravidlo: Nikdy sa nezamiluj do niektorého z bratov Foxxovcov.
Každá žena, ktorá ho neposlúchla, na to doplatila – aspoň tak sa povráva. Miestni to nazývajú kliatbou. Lenže ja som ju pocítil na vlastnej koži. A druhý raz by som to neprežil.

Adolf Hitler poskytol počas svojej politickej kariéry zahraničnej tlači viac ako sto rozhovorov. Novinári z celého sveta ho považovali za fascinujúceho respondenta. Popredný nemecký novinár Lutz Hachmeister v tejto knihe vôbec prvýkrát v dejinách podáva ucelený prehľad interview s nemeckým diktátorom a zároveň si kladie otázku: Aké poučenie z nich plynie?
Prvé dlhšie rozhovory s „bavorským Mussolinim“ vyšli ešte pred jeho pokusom o puč v roku 1923. Po následnom pobyte vo väzení v Landsbergu zmizol Hitler na istý čas z medzinárodného zorného poľa, po volebnom triumfe nacistickej strany NSDAP z roku 1930 sa však pre médiá opäť stal mimoriadne zaujímavým a vyhľadávaným.
Čoskoro sa u Hitlera predháňali novinári z celého sveta. Stretnutia im sprostredkúval jeho mediálny poradca „Putzi“ Hanfstaengl. O interview s nacistickým vodcom stáli obzvlášť angloamerickí reportéri. Pre mnohých bol rozhovor s nemeckým diktátorom vrcholom ich kariéry a často nerozpoznali hrozbu, akú predstavovala jeho politika.
Hachmeister (1959 – 2024) tieto rozhovory približuje a vyhodnocuje, a to z pohľadu Hitlerovej mediálnej stratégie i zákulisných vzťahov medzi predstaviteľmi propagandy a médií. Jeho publikácia čerpá z pôvodných prameňov a ponúka moderný pohľad na diktatúru a jej mediálny obraz. Dynamiku vzťahu médií k dnešným autokratom pritom sledoval až do svojej smrti.
