Sustainable Jewellery
In jewellery, the new consumer trends are demanding products that are crafted, personal, and created with respect to the environment. This implies a sustainability strategy that takes into account the entire supply chain, from the extraction of metals to the packaging materials. Sustainable jewellery contains all the aspects that are necessary to know in order to start the path towards sustainability in the jewellery business, from the traceability of gems and metals, to the impact of the processes of purification, smelting, polishing, etc., and the ways to work with certified materials.
The book includes case studies and interviews with international designers and firms who started the challenge of creating jewellery from an ethical and responsible perspective. With an introduction written by the jeweller and activist Greg Valerio, this book is a unique and essential guide for all those designers who want to bring their jewellery firm to a way that is ethical and respectful of the environment.

Sustainable Buildings
Buildings from all over the world using the latest developments, innovations and achievements of eco-friendly architecture.
Climate change and environmental pollution, rising energy prices and dwindling resources pose major challenges for the world of construction today. If sustainability is to become a global reality, it must also be designed and expressed with trend-setting aesthetics: The carefully selected sample projects of contemporary architecture show how this can be implemented in compelling ways.
They offer an informative overview of current, very different concepts, approaches and techniques. Sustainable building also means that ecological parameters involve not only all aspects of the actual building, but also the construction process and the afterlife in the sense of deconstruction and conversion, all of which must be considered by the planner as early as the design process. It is becoming increasingly important not to focus on short-term goals, but above all, on long-term ones.
Stříbrná a modrá: šperky z Číny v Náprstkově muzeu / Silver and Blue: Jewellery from China in the Ná
Kromě toho přibližuje osobnosti a příběhy spojené s touto sbírkou. Práce je určena zájemcům o dějiny šperkařství, sběratelství a čínské umělecké řemeslo. Dvojjazyčné, česko-anglické vydání, bohatý obrazový doprovod.
The present monograph is the first Czech language study to provide comprehensive information about jewellery in China. It focuses on the Late Qing Dynasty (16441911) collection in the Náprstek Museum. However, it represents the materials, techniques, and types that have appeared throughout the history of Chinese jewellery-making and shows the role of jewellery in traditional Chinese society. In addition, it also presents personalities and acquisition histories associated with this collection. This work is intended for those interested in the history of jewellery, collecting, and Chinese arts and crafts.

New Sustainable Homes
What makes a sustainable house a sustainable home? NEW SUSTAINABLE HOMES will address that question by presenting a wide range of projects where the architect and client have made a conscientious effort to incorporate sustainability into the design of the home and construction materials used in its execution. The result is a home that is less toxic to live in, is cheaper to operate, and often gives back to the environment rather than taking away. Also, and this is the most important consideration for many, it is a great looking, highly livable home that not only retains its value but has been shown to increase in value more quickly than more conventionally conceived houses because of cheaper operating expenses. These designers and their clients are not on the fringe. NEW SUSTAINABLE HOMES will show readers will learn about the many materials and techniques that make up today's sustainable house, including: 1) the use of pervious concrete on driveways that allows water to seep through to the water table below. 2) using bio–fiber panels in lieu of plywood for interior finishing 3) using organic, green roofs that improve insulation, absorb sound and manage storm–water runoff 4) solar water heating systems 5) use of high thermal performance windows 6) photovoltaic electrical systems

Sustainable Urban La
The organization of public space raises many challenges. Its very nature of being on public display makes urbanism one of the fields of architecture that is most open to debate and controversy. Urban spaces should not only strive for a balance betweeen solid and void in the urban fabric, but they must also be highly functional.
All architecture stems from the need to offer answers and solutions to specific problems and demands; these answer and solutions are then integrated into a generally predefined environment with various limitations.
This book offers a sample of some of the works that, through their originality. ingenuity and creativity, have found a method of sustainable design. In these designs an interest in nature goes hand in hand with the design, providing beautiful spaces for living in harmony with the environment.

The Sustainable Museum
Arguing that museums must place sustainability at the centre of all their activities, if they are to become key actors with a clear societal role, Garthe considers the issues that museums will likely face as they take on their new roles. Presenting case studies from a wide range of museums around the world, the book considers different ways of implementing sustainability in different types and sizes of institutions. Whilst the book clearly outlines the need for change, it also provides guidance about how to change. Garthe does this by considering specific concepts and approaches to sustainability in relation to the different aspects of museum operations. The book includes a hands-on manual for implementing sustainability management in a museum, whilst also considering the challenges practitioners will encounter and considering what the future of the sustainable museum might look like.
