Aphrodite
Aphrodite is a celebrated figure deeply connected with beauty, sexuality and love in ancient myth – but do we really know who she is and what she stands for? A captivating Greek goddess, who according to popular myth was born from sea foam, she is as fascinating now as she was then to both Gods and mortals. A powerful, multifaceted woman with a story as deep as the ocean from which perhaps she came, she is often erroneously presented as a fertility goddess, but she is certainly sensual, sexual and even maternal. Created through open submissions and supported by an extensive introduction examining the origins of Aphrodite, is a wonderful new book in the best tradition of Flame Tree's collectable hardcover editions.

Were Wolf Short Stories
Tales of human wolves have been with us since early medieval times, combined here with new stories from modern writers in the stunning, Gothic Fantasy series.
There's more to being a wolf than just howling at the moon! Stories about werewolves, shapeshifting humans, rivalries and alliances between vampyr and werewolves abound in this new volume in the Gothic Fantasy series, bringing modern stories from short submissions to mix with the folklore and mythology of medieval times. The word 'were' traces back more than a thousand years, coming from the Old English 'wer', meaning Man, then combined with wolf but here you'll also find old Norse legends such as Fenrir (born of Loki), prophesied to defeat Odin at Ragnarök, and early Slavic myths and rituals in which were-wolf skins are removed and stolen. New stories explore wolves which might have been human, changing by choice at the howl of the moon, or people cursed and damned to be wolves for all time. Is that why the lone wolf is alone? The wolfish grin is a little shy? Is that why we wolf down our food? Is there a wolf inside us all, in the forests around us, hunting us, haunting us, protecting itself and its kind? It's a glorious new book of power and identity, horror and romance.
New, contemporary and notable writers featured are: Richard Beauchamp, Charlotte Bond, B.A. Booher, Ramsey Campbell, Catherine Cavendish), E.C. The Open Heart
Catherine Wells (1872–1927) was the wife of H.G. Wells and the author of short stories, poems and an unfinished novella, The Open Heart, a haunting study of a woman’s sense of unfulfilment that adds significantly to our knowledge of early 20th-century feminism. Published here for the first time, The Open Heart is brought together with her stories and poems that appeared in The Book of Catherine Wells (1928).
The Open Heart tells of a woman’s shipwreck on a deserted island in the Pacific Ocean, a kind of earthly paradise in which she finds herself entirely alone. Included, too, in this collection are Catherine Wells' highly accomplished tales of forbidden love, of a woman’s subjection to a dominant and possessive husband and of female despair. These stories illustrate what H.G. Wells called ‘her brooding tenderness’, her ‘sense of invincible fatality’ and her ‘predisposition towards a haunting, dreamland fantasy of fear’.
