Tori Amos (rodená Myra Ellen Amos, 22. august 1963) je americká speváčka, skladateľka a klaviristka. Je klasicky vzdelanou hudobníčkou s mezzosopránovým hlasovým rozsahom. Po tom, čo už začal skladať inštrumentálne skladby na klavíri, Amos získal plné štipendium na Peabody Institute na Univerzite Johna Hopkinsa vo veku piatich rokov, ako najmladší človek, ktorý bol kedy prijatý. Musela odísť vo veku jedenástich rokov, keď jej bolo prerušené štipendium pre to, čo Rolling Stone opísal ako „hudobnú neposlušnosť“. Amos bola vedúcou speváčkou krátkotrvajúcej popovej skupiny Y Kant Tori Read z 80. rokov, kým začiatkom 90. rokov dosiahla svoj prelom ako sólová umelkyňa. Album nahrávali v jej vlastných Martian Engineering Studios, album si vlastnoručne vyprodukovali a zmixovali jej manžel Mark Hawley a Marcel van Limbeek. Album obsahuje odstrihnutý akustický zvuk s mnohými aranžmánmi piesní, ktoré pozostávajú výlučne z Amosovho spevu a klavíra.
