Even though I read it in broad daylight, I was a little spooked and just wanted to hide for a little bit. The narrative is beyond amazing, the characters have so much potential... I loved this book! I really love the way Erik Henry Vick writes. He has a gift for weaving pictures with words and making sure the reader is right there in the story with his characters. The atmosphere is sinister from the very beginning and the tension keeps building until the end. This is a fantastic collection.”--Rabia Tanveer, Readers' Favorite Reviews? "...a tense dash in the darkness to stay together and survive, filled with sudden violence, enigmatic enemies and strange turns of events...[it] reminded me of Stranger Things where the graphic horror side is really allowed to let rip... I’m constantly awed by the inventiveness of the author to bring larger threats with each novel…[and] the further development of the villainous characters, who are just as integral to the story, and have their own maniacal motivations at play. [T]he dark corners are darker than ever with Vick’s usual flair for the shadowy atmospheres in his sharp narrative voice and excellent choice of lexis."--K.C. Finn, Readers' Favorite Reviews?“[F]illed with action and disturbing images and these begin right off the bat. The silence, a falling leaf, or a faint footstep echo something sinister in this gritty tale of horrific deeds. Erik Henry Vick comes across as a master weaver of frightful tales; each page is well-spun with action and the kind of suspense that forces the reader to turn to the next page. The prose is beautiful, the plot ingeniously constructed and the characters richly developed. While this is the kind of story that is chilling, it is infused with realism and powerful imagery. It is a masterpiece, indeed.”--Romuald Dzemo, Readers' Favorite ReviewsWhat readers are saying? "If you like excitement and suspense, you're gonna love this series!"? The Phantom of Barker Mill
Why can’t I turn down a woman in distres? just took a case from the tearful, but very rich, widow whose husband supposedly died at the hands of a century-old phantom. He was the owner of Barker Steel Mill and it doesn’t take me long to realise that something very weird is going on there. Everyone is lying to me about everything but my toughest test is dealing with the aftermath of my stupid decision to hire Amanda Harper. Not that she isn’t talented, intelligent, and capable, because she is. She is also drop-dead gorgeous and massively distracting. She’ll prove to be an asset no doubt, assuming we live through the week that is. The paranormal? It’s all nonsense, but proving it might just get me killed.
