Fast Lane
He's the campus bad boy.
She's his neighbour's ex.
Who thought becoming roommates was a good idea?
Lane O'Neill doesn't do drama, and his plan for senior year of college is simple: run the Campus Drivers ride-share app he co-founded with his best friends, cruise campus in his beloved vintage car, and enjoy the attention that comes with the ride. No strings attached.
So when Lane stumbles upon a dishevelled woman asleep in his apartment building hallway, every instinct tells him to keep walking. After all, he doesn't do commitment. Unfortunately, Lois is freshly dumped, newly homeless, and a walking magnet for chaos. She's everything Lane avoids - yet somehow impossible to ignore.
That's how he ends up with a temporary roommate, just until Lois can afford a new place. Easy enough. Except her relentless optimism and stubborn heart have an annoying knack for slipping past his carefully built walls.
Too bad Lois is done playing the good girl, because she's about to break every rule he's ever lived by.
Pick this up if you love: opposites attract, frenemies to lovers, grumpy/sunshine, slow burn/yearning, lots of sexual banter, forced promixity, found family.
The Radiant Dark
It's March 1980, and Carol Girard and her husband are living an ordinary life in a small town in the Adirondacks. They have just had their first child, and though Carol is struggling with the challenges of new motherhood, her future seems clear. Until something extraordinary happens: an inexplicable flickering of light in the sky, which is ultimately determined to be communication from intelligent life on another planet. But these beings are eleven light-years away, and nothing is known about them other than the fact that they seem to know we exist too. And so begins a decades-long exchange of messages with this mysterious, faraway civilization.
As humanity reels from a shifting understanding of its place in the universe, we follow the stories of the Girard family: Carol, whose fascination with this other life sparks a desperate search for spiritual meaning; Michael, her loyal son, who finds solace not in the stars above his head but in the ground beneath his feet; and Ro, Carol's bright and ambitious daughter, whose childhood goal to work in interstellar communication will evolve into something far grander. Tracing five decades of love, loss, ambition, and self-discovery, The Radiant Dark is a stunning examination of a family navigating their lives with the knowledge that we are not alone.

Kniha zasazuje dějiny rané psychiatrie do širších kulturních, sociálních a politických souvislostí.
Other Women
After dropping out of college, a young woman wanders through New York both invisible and vulnerable, studying the city's strong magic and longing for a man she knows will never love her back. Salvation appears to arrive when Charlotte Herzfeld, the young wife of a successful businessman, hires her as a live-in nanny to accompany the family on a trip to Berlin. As the Herzfelds begin to crack under the weight of their secrets, she finds herself in a more precarious position than ever before. Reflective yet propulsive, and told in a voice both ingenuous and insightful, Other Women is a timeless and all-too-relatable tale of unwise decisions and unfortunate fixations. This volume includes three new short stories and an introduction from Megan Nolan.
The Minor Arcana of the Tarot
Unlock the esoteric wisdom and hidden symbolism in the four suits of the Tarot’s Minor Arcana: Wands, Cups, Swords and PentaclesThis revolutionary guide offers a fascinating and structured exploration of the second half of the Tarot, which is often neglected in Western occult studies, revealing rich esoteric and philosophic significance. Unlike the more widely studied Major Arcana (discussed in Mebes’ The Encyclopaedia of Occultism), the Minor Arcana – comprising the four suits of Wands, Cups, Swords, and Pentacles – are often dismissed as mundane or purely practical. In The Minor Arcana of the Tarot, however, Mebes elevates them to a level of spiritual instruction, interpreting them as central forces in mystic study, rooting his teachings in Hermetic, Kabbalistic, and mystical Christian traditions. His systematic approach guides the reader clearly through each card of the four suits, including the court cards, encouraging meditative engagement with the cards, and emphasising their place in the wider Western esoteric tradition. Yury Pankratov’s clear and accessible translation from the original Russian is a must-read for any serious student or practitioner of the occult.
The Philosophy Friends
Beginnings are in the fabric of our souls. Struggling to come to terms with the death of her son in a drowning accident, fifty-year-old Caitriona decides to enroll in evening class in Practical Philosophy, hoping it will provide the perfect distraction to her grief. There, she meets two other women, Alva and Aedmar, whose lives have been equally impacted by tragedy. At thirty-eight, Alva has only recently escaped from an abusive relationship, and is desperate to have a baby of her own, knowing her biological clock is ticking. Meanwhile, soon to be seventy-year-old Aedmar is struggling to balance the needs of her husband, who has Alzheimer's, and her foster daughter's determination to find her birth family. As the three women get to know one another, their lives become increasingly interconnected, and they come to realise that no matter what life throws at them, the enduring power of female friendship will see them through.

The Winchester Constitutional Contribution 1070–1346
First among equals before the Norman Conquest, the ancient See of Winchester was soon overtaken by Canterbury, York and London following the defeat of the Anglo-Saxons at Hastings. Despite this, it retained its wealth and prestige through its geographical position and the bishop’s unrivalled proximity to kings at Westminster and archbishops at Lambeth – thanks to the diocese’s hold on the Thames’ south bank and its base at Southwark. This helped ensure that successive bishops were drawn from among the finest medieval administrators. Frequently serving as Chancellors or Treasurers of England, they had immense opportunity to influence the development of early English government. They played key roles in shaping an effective legal and financial system, in securing Magna Carta and in promoting an embryonic Parliament. A bishop of Winchester was present at most, if not all, major events under the Norman and early Plantagenet monarchs. The Winchester bishop’s removal of the hapless Edward II paved the way for the long and illustrious reign of his son, Edward III.
Monumental Lies
How the past is memorialized can have a dangerous influence on the future. Monumental Lies exposes the truths buried at contested heritage sites and demands that we safeguard the material evidence of history from both malign defenders and over-enthusiastic erasure. Robert Bevan challenges us to rethink our relationship with our contested spaces, from colonial statues and the physical legacy of fascism, to fake post-conflict reconstructions and ethno-nationalist narratives about beauty and tradition. He questions symbolic power and symbolic changes and explains why wording on a plaque is never a substitute for tackling problem monuments through artistic transformations at scale.
A ujišťuje nás, že konec tohoto věku bude počátkem nového, úžasného, v němž budeme sloužit Pánu a uctívat ho s bezhříšnou dokonalostí.

The Wrong Guy
On May 8, 2006, Congolese finance graduate Guy Goma turns up for a job interview at the BBC, when his world explodes. Mistaken for a news guest whose name was also Guy (and who was waiting in a different reception area), he s ushered into a studio and interviewed live on TV. As he s introduced as Guy Kewney , terror washes over his face like a tidal wave, before giving way to a Munch-esque silent scream. He s peppered with questions about the Apple Computer court case. In Francophone-flecked English, he bluffs his way through the interview with answers so hilariously nonsensical that he wins over viewers and then the world. The Wrong Guy , as the British press dubs him, becomes a legend. What really happened that day? Who was responsible, and how did it impact Guy's life? Twenty years on, Elliott Gotkine, together with Guy Goma, reveals for the first time the remarkable, stranger-than-fiction story of The Wrong Guy, why his 15 minutes of fame endured, the chaos of 24-hour news, and how celebrity and destiny isn t always what it s cracked up to be.

The Umbrella Man and Other Stories
Dallas, 22 November 1963. The main event is supposed to be downtown, on Main Street. News footage shows office workers leaning out of windows, peering at the motorcade through a blizzard of ticker tape. On the sidewalks, the crowds are fifty deep, a wall of noise and celebration. Everyone thinks this is the place to be. A few blocks away, in Dealey Plaza, the air is different. There is no ticker tape here. The crowds are thin. The only person filming is a dressmaker balanced on a concrete plinth. In this quiet corner, there's a man opening an umbrella even though it isn't raining, a construction worker in a hard hat who claims he was sent here by God, three tramps who stand on the verge of becoming suspects, an unidentified witness known only as the Babushka Lady, and many more. This is not a book about conspiracies or a lone gunman. This is a book about memory, about how we construct our shared history, and about what happens when your life is defined by a single, fleeting moment. It's about a group of real people who opted out of the main event before John F. Kennedy was assassinated, only to find themselves accidental witnesses to the most scrutinised six seconds of the twentieth century.
