JANE AUSTENOVÉ (1775–1817) mohlo celé devatenácté století děkovat za galerii krásných moderních žen, které měly odvahu chovat se tak, jak jim velel zdravý rozum – ať už to byla Elizabeth z Pýchy a předsudku, Eleonor z Rozumu a citu nebo Anna z románu Anna Elliotová. Její první publikovaný román Rozum a cit (1811) dodnes nachází vděčné čtenáře a především čtenářky, neboť hrdinkami jsou dívky a ženy, které se musí smířit s tvrdostí života a najít rovnováhu mezi rozumem a citem.
