Nejlepší věc, kterou můžete o vesnici Borg říct, je to, že leží u silnice. Britt- -Marie je třiašedesátiletá žena, které bylo řečeno, že je pasivně agresivní, zpomalená a ukňouraná bába. Po čtyřiceti letech manželství opustila město a manžela, který ji podváděl. Borg zasáhla finanční krize, po níž tam zůstaly jen cedule s nápisem „Na prodej“ a pizzerie, která je cítit pivem. Britt-Marie nesnáší fotbal. Fotbal je to jediné, co v Borgu zůstalo. Tohle nevypadá na začátek krásného přátelství, to rozhodně ne. Ale když fotbalová přípravka v Borgu potřebuje trenéra tak zoufale, že se nakonec rozhodnou přijmout kohokoli, tak je detaily jako třeba ten, že ona opravdu, ale opravdu tu práci nechce, nezajímají. Tady byla Britt-Marie je román o tom, jaké to je mít předsudky (ne že by je Britt- -Marie měla, to samozřejmě ne), o ukládání příborů ve správném pořadí (vidličky, nože, lžičky, v tomhle pořadí, ale Britt-Marie na tom přece netrvá!) a o přírodě vedle silnice. Je to příběh o druhých šancích, prvních výkopech a o tom, že soda vyčistí skoro všechno.
