Steve Miller Band - J50: The Evolution of The Joker (Deluxe Edition) 2CD
Steve Miller Band je americká rocková skupina založená v roku 1966 v San Franciscu v Kalifornii. Skupinu vedie Steve Miller na gitare a speve. Skupina mala sériu hitových singlov z polovice až konca 70. rokov, ktoré sú základom klasického rocku, ako aj niekoľko skorších psychedelických rockových albumov. Miller opustil svoju prvú kapelu a presťahoval sa do San Francisca a založil Steve Miller Blues Band. Krátko po tom, čo Harvey Kornspan v roku 1967 vyjednal zmluvu s Capitol Records, skupina skrátila svoj názov na Steve Miller Band. Vo februári 1968 kapela nahrala svoj debutový album Children of the Future. Pokračovala produkcia albumov Sailor, Brave New World, Your Saving Grace, Number 5, Rock Love, Fly Like an Eagle, Book of Dreams a iných. Najväčšie hity kapely 1974–78, ktoré vyšli v roku 1978, sa predalo viac ako 13 miliónov kópií. V roku 2016 bol Steve Miller uvedený ako sólový umelec do Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
„The Joker“ je ôsmy štúdiový album nahraný a vydaný Capitol Records v októbri 1973. Album znamenal pre skupinu obdobie významnej zmeny, keď sa skupina vzdala svojej psychedelicky orientovanej hudby pre melodickejší, hladší rock/blues zvuk. Bol to tiež ich prvý solídny komerčný úspech vďaka silnej rozhlasovej hre titulnej skladby. Album sa dostal na 2. miesto v rebríčku Billboard Top LPs & Tape a v USA získal platinovú platňu. 8. januára 1974 sa dostal na prvé miesto v rebríčku Cash Box Albums Charts. Deluxe verzia vydaná k päťdesiatim rokom výročia albumu.
