Kouzelná skříňka pro Gwendy je dalším Kingovým dílem situovaným do fiktivního maineského městečka Castle Rock. Tentokrát se však, na rozdíl od těch ostatních, jedná o poměrně krátkou novelu, napsanou navíc ve spolupráci s Richardem Chizmarem. Na začátku příběhu je Gwendy 12 let. Je to bystrá holčička, která má problémy s nadváhou, s nimiž se dokáže svou vůlí a kázní vypořádat. Jednoho dne ji v parku osloví záhadný černě oděný muž, který jí z neznámých důvodů dá jedinečný a nebezpečný dárek – kouzelnou skříňku s páčkami a různobarevnými tlačítky. Stisknutím páček skříňka vydává buď vzácné stříbrné dolary, nebo nesmírně chutné čokoládičky.
