Paranoidní thriller od velmistra žánru sci-fi vrhá čtenáře do chmurného světa budoucnosti, do Ameriky zničené válkou, mezi Američany, kteří sice žijí hluboko pod povrchem zemským, protože jinde není bezpečno, zato ctí svého prezidenta, jenž k nim pravidelně moudře promlouvá a ani trochu nestárne. Podobně jako v některých svých dalších prózách, i zde P. K. Dick nepředvádí své prapodivné vize a neuvěřitelné mezilidské vztahy, ale dotýká se jejich prostřednictvím toho, co je nám všem až příliš dobře známé: prapodivných lidských charakterů a odpudivých pohnutek k tomu nejhanebnějšímu, čeho je člověk schopen.

Po Planetě, která neexistovala se českým čtenářům představuje již třetí část sebraného povídkového díla Philipa K. Dicka. Podivný ráj obsahuje třiadvacet krátkých próz napsaných v letech 1953 a 1954, tedy stále v raném období Dickovy spisovatelské dr áhy, kdy jeho první román teprve čekal na vydání a převážnou část jeho literární tvorby tvořily časopisecky publikované povídky. Soubor obsahuje mimo jiné povídku Zlatý muž, která se v roce 2007 stala předlohou k filmu Next s Nicholasem Cagem v hlavn í roli.

Další z Dickových románových her, kdy si čtenář není jist, která z popisovaných skutečností je ta pravá. Láme si s tím hlavu i Jack Bohlen, majitel věčně zfetované manželky, ale i zručný technik a zaměstnanec Arnieho Kotta, mocného muže, který má na Marsu, obývaném kolonisty a zbytky zdecimovaného původního obyvatelstva, monopol na vodu, tedy hlavní zdroj života. Kott zadá Bohlenovi nelehký úkol: vymyslet komunikátor, s jehož pomocí lze porozumět chlapci postiženého autismem, avšak nadanému vizi onářstvím - schopností nahlédnout do budoucnosti červené planety.

Most people emigrate to Mars - unless they have a job to do on Earth. Like Rick Deckard - android killer for the police and owner of an electric sheep. This week he has to find, identify, and kill six androids which have escaped from Mars. They're machines, but they look and sound and think like humans - clever, dangerous humans. They will be hard to kill. The film Blade Runner was based on this famous novel.

Sci-fi román plný černého humoru o světě, kde se všechno zvrtlo tak, že čas běží obráceně. Následkem bizarního vědeckého experimentu totiž dojde na Zemi k převrácení času – mrtví vstávají z hrobů, mládnou a vracejí se do lůn, ve kterých umírají. Jednou z hlavních postav je „antipohřebák“ Hermes, který vyhledává tyto ožívající a prodává je živým. Jde o existenciálně laděný a chmurně zábavný román protkaný sarkastickými společensko-politickými komentáři.
