Hunyjuk be a szemünket, és képzeljük el, hogy egy nagy kerek erdőben járunk. Ez a kerek erdő az otthonunk, a városunk, a hazánk, az a hely, ahol éljük mindennapjainkat. Bizony, ebben a képzeletbeli erdőben minden megeshet. Megeshet, hogy láthatjuk Robin Hood-ot vágtatni a lován, láthatjuk Hamupipőkét és Hófehérkét kart-karba öltve andalogni, láthatjuk Lúdas Matyit menekülni az erdőből, láthatjuk Rómeót és Júliát, Tomot és Jerryt, Piroskát és a Farkast, és még sok-sok hőst, akiknek a történeteit eddig csak egyféleképp ismertük. Ez a kerek erdő azonban, melyet nevezhetünk Magyarországnak, mindig tartogat számunkra meglepetést. A könyv huszonkét, egymással nem összefüggő, humoros, ám sokszor elgondolkodtató történetet mesél el. A fejezeteket a Hobo Blues Band 1984-ben megjelent Vadászat című alkotásának egy-egy gondolata ihlette. A Vadászat mestermű, amely az értő közönség számára többet jelent egy virtuóz zenei produkciónál. Könyvem írása során, egyebek mellett, a Vadászat alkotói iránt érzett tisztelet és hála vezérelt. This volume contains essays on the diplomatic and military relations between Austria-Hungary and Bulgaria in the First World War including their alliance politics towards other states and their aspirations on the Balkan Peninsula. The volume grew out of the presentations at the 2015 conference of the Bulgarian-Hungarian History Commission held in Sofia; a large portion of these studies represent attempts to transcend the politics of national grievance and self-victimization, and to avoid the canonization of national myths or the deflection of responsibility. At the same time, authors of the studies try to emphasize the alternatives the politicians of the period could have chosen, and how and why certain figures might bear responsibility for particular outcomes.
