Ve svých jedenadvaceti letech získal první cenu za kresbu na Salón de Artes Plásticas (Salonu výtvarného umění) Musea Roverano. Spolupracoval s vydavateli své rodně země i se zahraničními nakladatelstvími. Sám začal studovat malby 19. století a zvláštní pozornost věnoval symbolistům. Jeho estetické zaměření je silně ovlivněno pracemi Alberta Breccii, Carlose Nineho, Josého Muñoze a Enriqueho Alcateny. Jeho tvorba je však zcela osobitá a vyniká životem i výjimečnou technikou. Lze bez nadsázky říct, že Carusovo dílo se často objevuje v galeriích a muzeích v Buenos Aires a je jedním z největších objevů výtvarného umění Latinské Ameriky a možná bude brzy zaujímat přední místo v jeho vývoji.
