Keď v roku 1984 vyšiel debutový album The Style Council „Café Bleu“, Weller a jeho partner Mick Talbot predstavili kozmopolitnú zmes jazzu, soulu a popu, ktorá pôsobila bez námahy sofistikovane a odvážne sviežo.
