Sbírka jednadvaceti povídek a jedné novely skotského autora. Jedná se o Welshovu druhou knihou, plnou „obrázků ze společenského života spodiny", v níž autor nezůstáváí nic dlužen své pověsti; jeho texty opět zkoumají temná zákoutí světa i duše. Ač jsou povídky tématicky rozdílné, mají společné dvě věci: Vypravěčem je zástupce edinburghské ulice, jehož mluva je děsivá, plná vulgarismů, siláckých výroků, slangových obratů, zkomolenin a patvarů, ale rozhodně není fádní a nudná. To proto, že je v ní obsažen humor, sice hodně černý, cynický a brutální, ale jak jinak pravdivě popsat skutečný život, který se taky s nikým nepáře? A pak pravidlo, že žádná povídky neskončí happy endem a že ještě nikdy nebylo tak hrozně, aby nemohlo být ještě hůř.

Přestože by název nového románu Irvina Welshe mohl napovídat, že se jeho děj bude točit kolem známé látky, jež se dá fetovat vdechováním, odkazuje na to, co spojuje od dětství až do dospělosti čtyři kluky, kteří vyrůstají na sídlištích v Edinburghu. Je to jejich přátelství, nepřátelství vůči jistým lidem, zážitky a zejména tajemství. Z kluků se stávají muži, a tak sledujeme Juice Terryho, holkaře, který by se ze všeho nejraději v jednom kuse vyhýbal veškeré práci, která by mu snad mohla hrozit, přestože v jiných oblastech je více než čilý boxera Billyho, co trénuje od rána do noci a jede ve všem až na doraz muzikanta a dýdžeje Carla, jenž se věnuje hlavně zvukům a hudbě, a nakonec smolaře Gallyho, který přitahuje maléry jako hromosvod. Během jejich dospívání se všechno mění: způsob života, hudba – od punku k technu, ale i drogy, které k jejich životu neodmyslitelně patří – od speedu k extázi. Sledujeme také, jak se snaží vymanit z prostředí, do něhož se narodili, protože třídní i kulturní tlak pociťují jako tíživý, stejně jako tlak rodičů, kteří doufají, že si jejich děti povedou lépe než oni. To, co je drží pospolu, je jejich kamarádství, založené na několika základních pravidlech: nikdy nepotopit kámoše, netlouct holky a nikdy nikoho nikomu neprásknout. Irvine Welsh přes rozměrnost románu opět plně využívá svého spisovatelského mistrovství zejména v typickém rychlém, klipovém tempu příběhu, živých dialozích a černohumorných situacích. Je to dospělý román o dospívání – o tom, jak žijeme své životy a co se s námi děje, když se něco nedaří.

Nejnovější román Irvina Welshe je volným pokračováním kultovního Trainspottingu. Simon Williamson neboli Šoufek se po deseti letech vrací do Skotska, aby po své tetičce převzal hospodu. A jelikož se užírá, že po něm na světě nic nezbude, rozhodne se v patře nad hospodou natočit pornofilm. Jako hlavní hvězdu angažuje Nikki, občanským povoláním masérku, která si občas nějaký ten chechták přivydělá ruční prací a přitom sní, že bude pornofilmy jednou sama režírovat. Begpie je venku z lapáku, kam se dostal za zabití.Jestli se mu do rukou dostane Renton, půjde tam nejspíš znovu. Renton se stává Šoufkovým "spolupracovníkem" při výrobě filmu. Spud se snaží vychovávat syna, udržet si vztah s přítelkyní a hlavně držet zkrátka svoji závislost na drogách. Takhle nějak děj začíná. Těžko říct, jak skončí.
