Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Double Down
Get ready, Book 11 in the phenomenally bestselling Diary of a Wimpy Kid series is coming!
The pressure's really piling up on Greg Heffley. His mom thinks video games are turning his brain to mush, so she wants her son to put down the controller and explore his 'creative side'.
As if that's not scary enough, Halloween's just around the corner and the frights are coming at Greg from every angle.
When Greg discovers a bag of gummy worms, it sparks an idea. Can he get his mom off his back by making a movie . . . and will he become rich and famous in the process? Or will doubling down on this plan just double Greg's troubles?
Short History of Queer Women
No, they weren't 'just friends'!
Queer women have been written out of history since, well, forever. 'But historians famously care about women!', said no one. From Anne Bonny and Mary Read who sailed the seas together disguised as pirates, to US football captain Megan Rapinoe declaring 'You can't win a championship without gays on your team', via countless literary salons and tuxedos, A Short History of Queer Women sets the record straight on women who have loved other women through the ages.
Who says lesbians can't be funny?
In Quest of History
Dialog Karla Hvížďaly, novináře-zvědavce z Prahy, s Jiřím Přibáněm, právním filosofem z britského Cardiffu, nad uzlovými body naší historie, ku příležitosti 100. výročí republiky, v širokém teritoriálním i časovém kontextu od 9. do 21. století.

The History of Western Art
A concise, reader-friendly illustrated survey of Western art and architecture from prehistory to the present day.
Acknowledging how architecture, painting, sculpture and the decorative arts reflect the culture and society of their time, this latest addition to the Art Essentials series invites the reader to experience and appreciate the entirety of Western art from prehistory to today.
Focusing on the 'history' in art history, each of the twelve chapters opens with a question to ponder, followed by a summary of the major historical developments of the period, touching on social structure, political organization, migration, race, religious beliefs, scientific advances and customs. An exploration of these themes in the visual arts reveals how architecture, sculpture and painting simultaneously shape, reflect, and document the culture of the time and place they were created. A secondary focus explores the constantly evolving aesthetic preferences that swing between naturalism and abstraction, with each era and style either rebelling against the previous or seeking to improve it. Antecedents and outside influences are also discussed.
Brief History of Living Forever
An audacious novel set in near-future America, from the critically acclaimed author of SPACEMAN OF BOHEMIA.
When Adela discovers she has a terminal illness, her thoughts turn to Tereza, the American-raised daughter she gave up at birth. Leaving behind her moody, grown son, Roman, in their native Czech village, she flies to the United States to find the long-lost daughter who never knew her.
In New York City, Tereza is working as the star researcher for two suspicious biotech moguls hellbent on developing a 'god pill' to extend human life indefinitely. But before Tereza can find a cure for Adela, her mother dies mysteriously.
Narrated from the beyond by Adela, A Brief History of Living Forever is a high-wire act of storytelling. By turns insightful, moving and funny, the novel blends an immigrant mother's heartbreaking journey through the American dream with her children's quest to reclaim her from a country that would erase any record of her existence.
An economic history of Hungary from 1867
For the last century and a half, Central and Eastern Europe has undergone substantial changes both economically and politically. This book gives a comparative overview of the economic characteristics of Hungary by applying a holistic approach, considering the factors that determined the fate of this Central European country. Tables, graphs, and maps illustrate the decisions that influenced the economic processes from the Austro-Hungarian Empire to 2019. Within the pages of this monograph, the question of how the prevailing governments adjusted to the continuously changing internal and external conditions is answered.
“The monograph, written by Endre Domonkos, can be considered an important summary of Hungary’s 150-year economic history. The book will be useful for historians, economists, university students of economics, or readers interested in the economic history of Central and Eastern Europe. It offers important information and avoids taking a conventional approach to the theme. Moreover, it is an essential resource for research fellows both in Hungary and abroad, to understand the semi-peripheral development of the area.”Prof. István Szilágyi, Doctor of HAS
“Endre Domonkos, in his current work, summarises the economic history of Hungary in 10 chapters and more than 200 pages, richly illustrated with tables, maps, and graphs. The work takes a modern approach, applying the scientifi c note apparatus. The quantity and quality of the literature are also excellent and support the formal and qualitative value of the work. The author has done very serious exploratory research and synthesising work.” Prof. Dr. Ferenc Tibor Szávai, DSc.

The Secret History of the Five Eyes
The Secret History of The Five Eyes: The untold story of the international spy network, is a riveting and exclusive narrative of the most powerful and least understood intelligence alliance, which has been steeped in secrecy since its formation in 1956.
Richard Kerbaj, an award-winning investigative journalist and filmmaker, bypasses the usual censorship channels to tell the definitive account of authoritative but unauthorised stories of the Western world's most powerful but least known intelligence alliance made up of the US, Britain, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand. As Kerbaj shows, spy stories are never better than when they are true - and these span from 1930s Nazi spy rings to the most recent developments in Ukraine and China.
Through personal interviews with world leaders - including British Prime Ministers Theresa May and David Cameron - and more than 100 intelligence officials, this book explores the complex personalities who helped shape the Five Eyes. They include a Scotland Yard detective who became a spymaster and inspired the first exchanges between MI5 and the FBI. An American home economics teacher who helped create one of the most effective programmes to counter Soviet espionage. The CIA's lone officer in Budapest during the Hungarian Revolution. GCHQ's chief during the Edward Snowden intelligence leak. And the Australian politician turned diplomat whose tip-off to the FBI instigated the inquiry into Russia's meddling in the US presidential contest between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton in 2016.
Richard Kerbaj is able to draw from deep inside the secret corridors of power and his unparalleled access spans all 5 countries. Some of the people he has interviewed include former GCHQ director Sir Iain Lobban, CIA director General David Petraeus, MI5 director-general Eliza Manningham-Buller, NSA director Admiral Mike Rogers, British National Security Advisor Kim Darroch, ASIO chief Mike Burgess, the Canadian Security Intelligence Service's chief Richard Fadden, and Ciaran Martin, the official who oversaw Britain's assessments on whether the Chinese telecoms firm, Huawei, should have had a role in the creation of the UK's 5G network.
This page-turning book will lift the lid on spy stories from across the English-speaking world, question the future of the alliance, and our place within it.
