Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief
"Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief" is the first bestselling book in Rick Riordan's phenomenally successful Percy Jackson series - now with a new cover look. Half boy. Half God. ALL Hero. Look, I didn't want to be a half-blood. I never asked to be the son of a Greek God. I was just a normal kid, going to school, playing basketball, skateboarding. The usual. Until I accidentally vaporized my maths teacher. Now I spend my time battling monsters and generally trying to stay alive. This is the one where Zeus, God of the Sky, thinks I've stolen his lightning bolt - and making Zeus angry is a very bad idea. Rick Riordan is the Mythmaster. The Greek Gods are alive and kicking - go to the website and see for yourself. "It's Buffy meets Artemis Fowl. Thumbs up'". ("Sunday Times"). About the author: Rick Riordan is an award-winning mystery writer. He lives in San Antonio, Texas, with his wife and two sons. "Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief", Rick's first novel featuring the heroic young demigod, was the overall winner of the Red House Children's Book Award in 2006.

The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World
Their names still echo down the ages: The Great Pyramid at Giza. The Hanging Gardens of Babylon. The Temple of Artemis. The statue of Zeus at Olympia. The mausoleum of Halikarnassos. The Colossus at Rhodes. The Lighthouse of Alexandria. The Seven Wonders of the World were staggeringly audacious impositions on our planet. They were also brilliant adventures of the mind, test cases for the reaches of human imagination. Now only the great pyramid remains fully standing, yet the scale and majesty of these seven wonders still enthral us today.
In a thrilling, colourful narrative enriched with the latest archaeological discoveries, bestselling historian Bettany Hughes walks through the landscapes of both ancient and modern time. This is a journey whose purpose is to ask why we wonder, why we create, why we choose to remember the wonder of others. She explores traces of the Wonders themselves, and the traces they have left in history. A magisterial work of historical storytelling, The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World reinforces the exciting and nourishing notion that humans can make the impossible happen.
The Tower of Nero (The Trials of Apollo Book 5)
It's time to face the final trial . . .
The battle for Camp Jupiter is over. New Rome is safe. Tarquin and his army of the undead have been defeated. Somehow Apollo has made it out alive, with a little bit of help from the Hunters of Artemis.
But though the battle may have been won, the war is far from over.
Now Apollo and Meg must get ready for the final - and, let's face it, probably fatal - adventure. They must face the last emperor, the terrifying Nero, and destroy him once and for all.
Can Apollo find his godly form again? Will Meg be able to face up to her troubled past? Destiny awaits . . .

Red Hood And The Outlaws Vol. 2 (Rebirth)
Writer Scott Lobdell (SUPERMAN, TEEN TITANS) and artist Dexter Soy (RED HOOD/ARSENAL) shed fiery light on the Outlaws' most mysterious member in RED HOOD AND THE OUTLAWS VOL. 2: WHO IS ARTEMIS? Little is known about the Amazon warrior Artemis, even by her teammates in the so-called "Outlaws." But Red Hood and Bizarro are about to get a crash course when her past comes back to haunt all three of them--with a vengeance!
Soon the team finds itself a long way from the streets of Gotham in Qurac[AR1] . Not only is the war-torn Middle Eastern country Artemis' former home, it's also the site of great personal tragedy for both the wayward Amazon and for Red Hood. It was in Qurac where Artemis lost her best friend, and where Jason Todd got himself murdered by the Joker, back before Robin became the Red Hood.
Now someone in Qurac is using the ancient weapon of Artemis' people--the Bow of Ra--to commit genocide, and only an Amazon can tame its incredible power. But stopping the Bow means marching right into the middle of a war zone...and in a war between Amazons and mankind, whose side will Artemis take?

Global
This is a powerful, hopeful and timely story about the real effects of climate change: two young people on different continents whose lives are catastrophically changed by global warming. A graphic novel with glorious colour artwork throughout for children of all ages - from Eoin Colfer, previously Irish Children's Laureate, and the team behind Illegal, and his bestselling Artemis Fowl graphic novels.
Yuki lives in an increasingly deserted Inuit township in Nova Scotia. One day she sets out into the wilderness of the Arctic tundra planning to photograph a rare grolar bear (a terrifying grizzly-polar crossbreed created by climate change) - if she can prove it's a grolar, she can protect it from being shot. With only her faithful dog for company and adrift on a fragment of melting glacier, she finds herself being stalked across the changing wilderness by a starving grolar bear, with only her wits and her harpoon to keep her alive.
Sami lives in a fishing village on the Bay of Bengal. But because of the ever-rising ocean level, each day is a struggle to survive. One night, Sami sets out to return to his old, submerged family home, alone. He takes a deep breath and dives beneath the moonlit waters, hoping to find his past.
But a cyclone is coming ...
Illustrated by the talented Giovanni Rigano, this moving and important graphic novel will have breathtaking full-colour illustrations throughout.

Space 2069
Nearing half a century since the last Apollo mission, mankind has yet to return to the Moon, but that is about to change. With NASA's Artemis program scheduled for this decade, astronomer David Whitehouse takes a timely look at what the next 50 years of space exploration have in store.
The thirteenth man and the first woman to walk on the Moon will be the first to explore the lunar south pole - the prime site for a future Moon base thanks to its near-perpetual sunlight and the presence of nearby ice.
The first crewed mission to Mars will briefly orbit the red planet in 2039, preparing the way for a future landing mission. Surviving the round trip will be the greatest challenge any astronaut has yet faced.
In the 2050s, a lander will descend to the frozen surface of Jupiter's moon Europa and attempt to drill down to its subsurface ocean in search of life.
Based on real-world information, up-to-date scientific findings and a healthy dose of realism, Space 2069 is a mind-expanding tour of humanity's future in space over the next 50 years.
