Into the Black
As they embark upon the fourth decade of the career, Metallica's legacy is as unique as it is remarkable: having sold over 100 million albums their status as the biggest Metal band of all time is indisputable. Following the acclaimed first volume, which chronicled the band's rise to international stardom, the authors now explore the challenges and tensions that ensued for the band. From the phenomenal, breakthrough, success of 1991's 'Black' album to the band's reinvention with the 'Load/Reload' albums; bassist Jason Newsted's shock exit in 2001 and the group's subsequent meltdown, as laid bare in the unvarnished fly-on-the-wall documentary Some Kind Of Monster, to the divisive 'St. Anger' and 'Lulu' sets (recorded with Rick Rubin and in collaboration with Lou Reed respectively), they brilliantly capture this unique bands epic, louder than life saga.

Kama Sutra - A Guide to the Art of Pleasure
The word 'kama' means the desire for sensual pleasure in Sanskrit, and was considered an essential part of the well-rounded education of a young, urbane gentleman. Treating pleasure as an art, "Kama Sutra" is a handbook covering every aspect of love and relationships. Its seven sections are devoted to the social life, courtship and marriage, extra-marital relations, the conduct of courtesans and prescriptions for enhancing attractiveness, as well as systematic, detailed instruction on sex. This modern translation of "Kama Sutra" takes it away from the well-worn image of an erotic, Oriental curiosity. This clear, accurate translation conveys all the original flavour and feel of this elegant, intimate and hugely enjoyable work; a masterpiece of pithy description and a wry account of human desires and foibles.

The Fing History of Swearing
Swearing is and always has been regarded as undereducated, obscene, rude and profane in society. It has been censored, forbidden and the institutions of power continue to ban it from society and all media. Yet despite your mum’s best efforts, cussing is mainstream. It’s even more than that, it’s an integrated part of our culture. We have used profane language since the beginning of time. The number of times we swear is huge. It happens almost automatically and you would have to almost force yourself if you’d want to stop using them. We don’t plan to use them, you wouldn’t think twice about shouting the word “fuck” if you were to hurt yourself. It happens automatically and that’s the interesting point. So is swearing an instinct then? Where did it actually come from and when did it become such a bad thing? What’s the fucking history of swearing? Where does the hidden power of these words even come from? Why does it make you feel so great? Could we use the power of these words and phrases wisely as a tool in our daily life and appreciate the fact that we have them and their emotional effect on us? Having spent some time on searching and looking for the answers to these questions I encountered a treasure trove of interesting information on this beautifully offensive topic.

This book is amazing. Totally gripping and unique in how each word pulls you further and further into a world full of demons, angels and creative characters.
Jana Oliver has brilliantly and beautifully written the continued adventure of Riley Blackthorn in a way that the readers begin to understand her situation and what she may face later in life. I love how Riley is such a strong character because we read how she is her own person and won't let anyone talk bad about her or her dad.
The story itself is marvelous in how feelings between characters start to show through more and we begin to see a change in personality in some characters. However, the main plot of this book is clever and mysterious and has many twists to keep you engaged.

No Limits - Blow the CAP Off Your Capacity
Nr.1 New York Times bestselling author John C. Maxwell's latest book will enhance the lives of leaders, professionals, and anyone who wants to achieve success and personal growth. We often treat the word capacity as if it were a natural law of limitation. Unfortunately, most of us are much more comfortable defining what we perceive as off limits rather than what's really possible. Could it be that many of us have failed to expand our potential because we have allowed what we perceive as capacity to define us? What if our limits are not really our limits? In his newest book, John Maxwell identifies 17 core capacities. Some of these are abilities we all already possess, such as energy, creativity and leadership. Others are aspects of our lives controlled by our choices, like our attitudes, character, and intentionality. Maxwell examines each of these capacities, and provides clear and actionable advice on how you can increase your potential in each. He will guide you on how to identify grow, and apply your critical capacities. Once you've blown the 'cap"'off your capacities, you'll find yourself more successful-and fulfilled-in your daily life.

News where you are
Set in Birmingham, "The News Where You Are" tells the funny, touching story of Frank, a local TV news presenter. Beneath his awkwardly corny screen persona, Frank is haunted by disappearances: the mysterious hit and run that killed his predecessor Ph
il Smethway; the demolition of his father's post-war brutalist architecture; and, the unmarked passing of those who die alone in the city. Frank struggles to make sense of these absences while having to report endless local news stories of holes open
ing up in people's gardens and trying to cope with his resolutely miserable mother. The result is that rare thing: a page-turning novel which asks the big questions in an accessible way, and is laugh-out-loud funny, genuinely moving and ultimately up
lifting.

Perennial Philosophy
An inspired gathering of religious writings that reveals the "divine reality" common to all faiths, collected by Aldous Huxley"The Perennial Philosophy," Aldous Huxley writes, "may be found among the traditional lore of peoples in every region of the world, and in its fully developed forms it has a place in every one of the higher religions." With great wit and stunning intellect--drawing on a diverse array of faiths, including Zen Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism, Christian mysticism, and Islam--Huxley examines the spiritual beliefs of various religious traditions and explains how they are united by a common human yearning to experience the divine. The Perennial Philosophy includes selections from Meister Eckhart, Rumi, and Lao Tzu, as well as the Bhagavad Gita, Tibetan Book of the Dead, Diamond Sutra, and Upanishads, among many others.
Comic book design
When we think of comics it is all too easy to reduce them to pictures and word bubbles. Thats less than half of the story: a good comic relies on an awareness of page layout, framing, point of view, pacing, spacing, lettering and many other techniques, which - paradoxically - are often invisible to the lay reader. Written by an award-winning comics artist, writer and editor, this volume is the most thorough exploration to date of the possibilities offered by the comics medium to the writer or artist alive to its unique grammar. Using hundreds of examples of art from some of the biggest and most-respected names in comics, Gary Spencer Millidge lifts the lid on the technique and thought which underpins the best comics, providing a fascinating insight for readers, writers and artists alike.

Auggie Wren's Christmas Story
This charming Christmas fable begins with a dilemma: A writer has been asked by The New York Times to write a story that will appear in the paper on Christmas morning. The man agrees, but he has a problem: How do you write an unsentimental Christmas story? He unburdens himself to his friend at his local cigar shop, a colourful character called Auggie Wren. 'A Christmas story? Is that all?' Auggie counters. 'If you buy me lunch, my friend, I'll tell you the best Christmas story you've ever heard. And I guarantee every word of it is true.' What follows is utterly beguiling - a story involving a blind woman, a lost wallet, and a Christmas dinner - in which everything is turned upside down and the lines between truth and story telling become brilliantly blurred.

Bridge across forever
We're the bridge across forever, arching above the sea, adventuring for our pleasure, living mysteries for the fun of it, choosing disasters triumphs challenges impossible odds, testing ourselves over and again, learning love and love and love!
The opposite of loneliness, it's not togetherness. It is intimacy.
Look in a mirror and one thing's sure: what we see is not who we are.
Next to God, love is the word most mangled in every language. The highest form of regard between two people is friendship, and when love enters, friendship dies.
There are no mistakes. The events we bring upon ourselves, no matter how unpleasant, are necessary in order to learn what we need to learn; whatever steps we take, they're necessary to reach the places we've chosen to go.
