Very Small Cafes & Restaurants
Following on from LKP's successful books Micro: Very Small Buidlings, by Ruth Slavid, and Very Small Shops, John Stones turns his attention to eating establishments, focusing on food outlets where there is just enough space to eat. Small food outlets are enjoying an upsurge in the quality of food served and in their eye-catching design. In many of these bijou ventures, especially where food is sold to take away, the graphics, brand identity and packaging are just as important as the interior. All of the establishments featured measure less than 150 square metres indeed, many are much smaller than that so the designers must make a big impact with very little space. Very Small Cafes and Restaurants features around 40 projects from around the world by such designers as Wonderwall, Marti Guixe, Thomas Heatherwick and Ippolito Fleitz Group. Projects are grouped by type of outlet: pizzerias, noodle bars, cafes and coffee shops, ice-cream parlours and delicatessens. This book will be inspirational for designers faced with the challenge of a tiny cafe or restaurant, as well as for independent food retailers looking for fresh new ways to present their product.

Collecting Design
Tips on Your Favorite Design and How to Enjoy and Make Profit Adam Lindemannrsquo;s previous book for TASCHEN,Collecting Contemporary, has been an unprecedented success, introducing the lay reader to collecting contemporary art, with tell-all interviews by the biggest players in the global art market. Where this book was mainly the outcome of Lindemannrsquo;s personal fascination with the art,Collecting Design, in similar fashion, started when he was furnishing his new house. Which is how this latest volume manages to give sucha perfect introduction into collectible design: it follows the path its author went. It all started in the late eighteenth century: artists designed porcelain pieces that became editioned works in high demand. Art Deco to the Wiener Werkstauml;tte, Bauhaus to the Eameses, the French modernists, and a whole bunch of designers you havenrsquo;t heard of yet, this volume is the best guide to the collectability and overall desirability of the best designfor connoisseurs and anybody interested in the way we live today. Collecting Designtells all about an addictive occupation, vintage pieces vs. limited editions, the big names and what to keep an eye on,all from the perspective of a passionate collector meeting market luminaries for in-depth conversations-his fellowcollectors(Bruno Bischofberger, Michael Boyd, Peter Brant, Dennis Freedman, Reed Krakoff, Ronald Lauder, Rachel Lehmann), thedealers(Anthony DeLorenzo, Suzanne Demisch, Barry Friedman, Cleacute;mence and Didier Krzentowski, Zesty Meyers and Evan Snyderman, Murray Moss, Patrick Seguin, Alasdhair Willis), selecttastemakers(Jacques Grange, Marc Jacobs, Karl Lagerfeld, Peter Marino, Robert Rubin, Ian Schrager, Axel Vervo.

Claude Montana
This book demonstrates and revels in the rich inventiveness of a designer who played a key role in the fashions of the 1980s and 90s, and one who - with fashion's recent return to harder edges - has become an inspiration for many contemporary designers. It focuses on the extraordinary new image that the Montana woman embodied: all shoulder-pads, razor-sharp tailoring and strong silhouettes with dramatic proportions and masculine lines, enlivened with an astonishing mix of detail and bold hues. Materials, colours and cut were all vehicles for his genius, and it was the Lanvin period in the early 1990s that marked the absolute high point of his creativity.

Designing Media
Connections and clashes between new and old media, as told by interviewees ranging from the founder of Twitter to the publisher of the New York Times.
Mainstream media, often known simply as MSM, have not yet disappeared in a digital takeover of the media landscape. But the long-dominant MSM?television, radio, newspapers, magazines, and books?have had to respond to emergent digital media. Newspapers have interactive Web sites; television broadcasts over the Internet; books are published in both electronic and print editions. In Designing Media, design guru Bill Moggridge examines connections and conflicts between old and new media, describing how the MSM have changed and how new patterns of media consumption are emerging. The book features interviews with thirty-seven significant figures in both traditional and new forms of mass communication; interviewees range from the publisher of the New York Times to the founder of Twitter. We learn about innovations in media that rely on contributions from a crowd (or a community), as told by Wikipedia's Jimmy Wales and Craigslist's Craig Newmark; how the band OK Go built a following using YouTube; how real-time connections between dispatchers and couriers inspired Twitter; how a BusinessWeek blog became a quarterly printed supplement to the magazine; and how e-readers have evolved from Rocket eBook to QUE. Ira Glass compares the intimacy of radio to that of the Internet; the producer of PBS's Frontline supports the program's investigative journalism by putting documentation of its findings online; and the developers of Google's Trendalyzer software describe its beginnings as animations that accompanied lectures about social and economic development in rural Africa. At the end of each chapter, Moggridge comments on the implications for designing media. Designing Media is illustrated with hundreds of images, with color throughout. A DVD accompanying the book includes excerpts from all of the interviews, and the material can be browsed at www.designing-media.com.
