Things We Lost in the Fire
Sleep-deprived fathers conjuring phantoms; sharp-toothed children and stolen skulls; persecuted young women drawn to self-immolation. Organized crime sits side-by-side with the occult in Buenos Aires - a place where reality and the preternatural fuse into strange, new shapes. These stories follow the wayward and downtrodden, revealing the scars of Argentina's dictatorship and the ghosts and traumas that have settled in the minds of its people. Provocative, brutal and uncanny, Things We Lost in the Fire is a paragon of contemporary Gothic from a writer of singular vision.
All the Pretty Horses
John Grady Cole is the last bewildered survivor of long generations of Texas ranchers. Finding himself cut off from the only life he has ever wanted, he sets out for Mexico with his friend Lacey Rawlins. Befriending a third boy on the way, they find a country beyond their imagining: barren and beautiful, rugged yet cruelly civilized; a place where dreams are paid for in blood.
All the Pretty Horses is an acknowledged masterpiece from Pulitzer Prize winning author Cormac McCarthy, and a grand love story: a novel about childhood passing, along with innocence and a vanished American age. Steeped in the wisdom that comes only from loss, it is a magnificent parable of responsibility, revenge and survival.
The Illustrated World of Tolkien. The Second Age
This volume is an in-depth and exquisitely illustrated guide to the Second Age of Middle-earth, one of the least-explored periods of Arda's history. The Illustrated World of Tolkien: The Second Age, is the follow up companion to the best-selling The Illustrated World of Tolkien, and gathers together artwork, charts, and fascinating and scholarly writing from renowned Tolkien expert David Day. Exploring the languages, poetry and elements of the heroic ages of Norse, Greek and Roman mythologies that may have influenced Tolkien's writing, it is a reference guide for any fan of Tolkien's work, Tolkien's world and the imaginative brilliance his vision inspired.
The Second Age is made up of two great narrative channels: on the one hand the rise and cataclysmic downfall of the island-kingdom of Numenor and its aftermath, and on the other the forging of the Rings of Power and the rise to power of the new dark lord. Tolkien's sources for his Second Age are, of course, as rich and varied as ever and this book delves into some of these influences and shows how the power of Tolkien's imagination is manifest even in the lesser-known parts of his legendarium. This work is unofficial and is not authorised by the Tolkien Estate or HarperCollins Publishers.
The Heads of Cerberus
One of the first dystopian science fantasies, this novel features a grey dust from an ancient glass vial which is capped with a silver figure of Cerberus, the 3-headed mythological dog that guarded the gate to "Pluto's realm", that is, to Hades. The fine dust transports anyone who inhales it to a totalitarian Philadelphia of 2118 AD. It was written by Gertrude Barrows Bennett (1883–1948) under the pseudonym Francis Stevens. Bennett, the first major female writer of fantasy and science fiction, has been called "the woman who invented dark fantasy."

The Gringo Guide To Moving To Mexico
Living The Mexican Dream!!
Imagine living in a place where your dollars are worth almost 20 times more than in the US, but that is also modern and close enough so you'll never feel homesick.
A place with beautiful beaches, tasty food, affordable housing and healthcare.
A place where the locals are friendly and there's always something fun to do.
If you strive for living a laidback lifestyle, in place rich with folklore and culture where you can also learn some Spanish on the go, then Mexico is the right place for you.
My name is Raúl Jiménez (Yes, like the player from the Mexican national soccer team), writer of the Amazon best seller on Mexican slang "MEXISLANG", and also an online Spanish teacher who has taught over 200 students from all over the world, including Gabriel Wyner, the writer and founder of "Fluent Forever".
I've been teaching online for more than 3 years, and during this time, I've noticed how many people were learning Spanish to travel to Mexico and Latin America, and besides language questions, I always got a lot about what places were the best to visit, or what kind of documents people needed if they wanted to stay here; because of this, I started writing this book.
This book is made for people who:
Want to know the process and documentation necessary to become a temporary or permanent resident of Mexico.
Want to know your money's worth and the general cost of living in Mexico.
Want to know about safety from the drug war and the most expat friendly places in Mexico.
Want to know about real state, and housing in Mexico.
Want to be prepared for the culture shock and the language barrier when moving to Mexico.
Want information about working and paying taxes in Mexico.
Get "The Gringo Guide To Moving to Mexico" now, so you can make an informed decision before you move.

The Birth of a New World 1918-1923
The global conflagration that erupted in 1914 exploded the old world and opened the way to a new, unprecedentedly cruel era – the 20th century. Early attempts to interpret the Great War described it as a clash between good and evil. That narrative is still shared by many. Mária Schmidt’s wide-ranging analysis attempts to transcend these diametrically-opposed explanations of the war. With a mere 100 years of hindsight, we can say that this book marks a real beginning. It will serve as a reference for many future studies.

Harlow, Jack - Come Home The Kids Miss You CD
KDO: Hudebník z Louisville v Kentucky se rapu věnuje od roku 2011, ale skutečného věhlasu se dočkal až v roce 2020, kdy bouchnul jeho track Whats Poppin. Následovaly další velmi úspěšné singly a albový debut Thats What They All Say, který startoval na pátém místě amerického žebříčku.
Jack Harlow si do studia pozval hned několik velkých jmen, někteří z hostů už nejsou příliš aktivní a jde tedy o hodně exkluzivní účast (Justin Timberlake, Pharrell, dále Drake a Lil Wayne). Hudebně je kolekce kombinací moderního trapového zvuku a old-school vlivů.

The Age of Reason
The Age of Reason: Being an Investigation of True and Fabulous Theology, a deistic treatise written by eighteenth-century British radical and American revolutionary Thomas Paine, critiques institutionalized religion and challenges the inerrancy of the Bible. Published in three parts in 1794, 1795, and 1807, it was a bestseller in America, where it caused a short-lived deistic revival. British audiences, however, fearing increased political radicalism as a result of the French revolution, received it with more hostility. The Age of Reason presents common deistic arguments; for example, it highlights the corruption of the Christian Church and criticizes its efforts to acquire political power. Paine advocates reason in the place of revelation, leading him to reject miracles and to view the Bible as an ordinary piece of literature rather than as a divinely inspired text. The Age of Reason is not atheistic, but deistic: it promotes natural religion and argues for a creator-God.

Bucholz and the Detectives
The following pages narrate a story of detective experience, which, in many respects, is alike peculiar and interesting, and one which evinces in a marked degree the correctness of one of the cardinal principles of my detective system, viz.: "That crime can and must be detected by the pure and honest heart obtaining a controlling power over that of the criminal."

The House Without a Key
The Charlie Chan series #1The novel, which takes place in 1920s Hawai‘i, spends time acquainting the reader with the look and feel of the islands of that era from the standpoint of both white and non-white inhabitants, and describes social class structures and customs which have largely vanished in the 21st century. The novel deals with the murder of a former member of Boston society who has lived in Hawai‘i for a number of years. The main character is the victim's nephew, a straitlaced young Bostonian bond trader, who came to the islands to try to convince his aunt Minerva, whose vacation has extended many months, to return to Boston. The nephew, John Quincy Winterslip, soon falls under the spell of the islands himself, meets an attractive young woman, breaks his engagement to his straitlaced Bostonian fiancee Agatha, and decides after the murder is solved to move to San Francisco. In the interval, he is introduced to many levels of Hawaiian society and is of some assistance to Detective Charlie Chan in solving the mystery.

The Castle of Otranto
The Castle of Otranto is a 1764 novel by Horace Walpole. It is generally regarded as the first gothic novel, and it was indeed the first novel to describe itself by that term. Castle is thus generally credited with initiating the Gothic literary genre, one that would become extremely popular in the later 18th century and early 19th century. Thus, Walpole is arguably the forerunner of such authors as Charles Robert Maturin, Ann Radcliffe, Bram Stoker, and Daphne du Maurier.
